Tom Holland has talked about wanting to cameo in Euphoria season 2 and now it seems he may have been spotted in the crowd of Lexi’s play in the latest episode. Holland had a banner year in 2021, starring in one of the highest-grossing movies of all time with Spider-Man: No Way Home, but one role has consistently eluded him. Holland’s MCU co-star and girlfriend Zendaya stars as Rue in Euphoria, and the former has talked about wanting to appear in the HBO show for some time. Other members of the cast have even joked about a Spider-Man and Euphoria crossover.

Euphoria season 2’s penultimate episode, “The Theater and It’s Double,” is all about Lexi Howard’s (Maude Apatow) play, something the season has been building up to. In the show, the play is titled “Our Life” and follows Lexi, Cassie, and their friends, Rue, Maddy, and Kat. It riffs on real-life events, some of which have been depicted in the show and some that are shown intermittently through flashbacks in the episode. With everything going on in Euphoria season, though—including a truly bewildering dream sequence with Nate Jacobs—it seems a major moment may have been missed.

During the episode, the camera consistently pans over the crowd as many people who are depicted in the play are present, including Cassie, Nate, Rue, Maddy, Kat, and Jules. The character’s relationships define the seating chart, with Maddy and Kat off on their own, Rue and Jules separated, and Cassie and Nate isolated from everyone else. One shot of the crowd, though, seems to show Euphoria season 2’s Tom Holland cameo as it appears the actor is seated in the crowd at East Highland High. But is it really him?

While it’s ultimately hard to tell with 100% certainty that it is in fact Holland in Euphoria season 2, episode 7, it certainly looks like him. Seated a few rows behind Cassie and Nate is a man whose hair and facial structure look very much like Holland upon close inspection. The cameo is intentionally hidden and it’s no surprise that the actor doesn’t have a more prominent role.

No one has confirmed whether or not the man spotted in the crowd in Euphoria season 2, episode 7 is Holland, but now that he has been seen, it’s possible that an answer could be forthcoming. With Holland said to have visited the set of Euphoria multiple times over the filming of season 2, seating him in the background of Lexi’s play would be an easy way to get him in the show without writing in a bit part that could potentially come across as a shallow stunt. Instead, Holland simply sitting in the background is an Easter egg of sorts for eagle-eyed fans of the show and the actor. With Euphoria season 2 going through several re-writes, it’s possible that a lengthier cameo was out of the question, so having him simply appear amongst a crowd of extras is a fun way to get the actor involved without stretching credulity.
