Square Enix, publisher and developer of Triangle Strategy, has released a new demo for the game on the Nintendo Switch, which now features the game’s prologue chapters. The upcoming tactical RPG from Square Enix and Artdink was originally unveiled back in February of last year and it easily became one of the biggest JRPGs expected to release in 2022. The excitement for Triangle Strategy is primarily rooted in its visual similarities to 2018’s Octopath Traveler as well as the tactical gameplay akin to that of 1998 cult classic Final Fantasy Tactics.

Right after unveiling the game last year, Square Enix released the first demo of Triangle Strategy on Nintendo Switch. The demo allowed people to play through chapters six and seven of the game, offering around three-four hours’ worth of content, giving them the opportunity to experience a healthy amount of both Triangle Strategy’s story and gameplay. This includes the game’s Scales of Conviction mechanic and its combat, which draws many comparisons between Triangle Strategy and Final Fantasy Tactics. Square Enix then collected player feedback through a survey and implemented both gameplay and visual changes to Triangle Strategy based on the results.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Square Enix announced the prologue demo with a new Triangle Strategy trailer during Nintendo’s latest Direct presentation. The video, dubbed “Final Trailer,” may be the last teaser for the game before it’s released in March. The prologue demo covers the first three chapters of the game and will allow players to transfer their save data to the final game when it becomes available. Apart from getting a head start into the game, players who try out the prologue demo will get to experience the changes made to Triangle Strategy based on the feedback from the game’s first demo.

Unlike the demo that was released last year, it’s unlikely that Square Enix will make any significant changes to the game based on player feedback from the prologue demo before Triangle Strategy releases, given that there are only a few more weeks until its launch. However, it’s definitely possible for the studio to release post-launch updates to either fix any issues or apply any changes that they feel the game needs, whether it’s based on player feedback or otherwise.

Triangle Strategy already looks promising, and the prologue demo will help those who are still on the fence about whether or not to purchase the game make a decision before it’s released. Triangle Strategy should also give people something to spend their time on while waiting for confirmation on the rumored Final Fantasy Tactics remaster.

Triangle Strategy is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch on March 4, 2022.
