Tribes of Europa Cast & Character Guide: Where You’ve Seen Them Before

Netflix just may have a surprise hit with Tribes of Europa, so who are the main protagonists? Many streamers will quickly identify the thematic similarities to Game of Thrones or even The Hunger Games franchise but may not be familiar with the trio of focal leads. Even if the German series doesn’t make it to season 2, the main stars clearly have a future in the industry.

Set in 2074, Tribes of Europa takes place approximately 50 years after a mysterious global blackout led to absolute chaos. When three siblings from a relatively small tribe called the Origines find a crashed airplane, the dying pilot warns about a looming threat from the East. Shortly after, a larger tribe called the Crows overtakes the peaceful village known as Refugium, and the young Origines are forced to fend for themselves while separated. The central mystery in the Netflix show involves a small black cube, one that will presumably reveal the truth about “Black December” from decades prior.

The main cast for Tribes of Europa doesn’t include any huge names from movies and television, however, it does feature alums of popular series like Dark and Warrior Nun. Unsurprisingly, a Game of Thrones performer appears in the supporting cast and a German-Iranian actress co-stars as the main villain. Henriette Confurius As Liv

Henriette Confurius stars as Liv, one of the focal siblings. She’s recused from an attack by a group known as the Crimsons and plans to find her family by invading the Crow’s home base at Brahtok. Confurious portrayed Anna von Striesow in Line of Separation and Isa von Gems in Die verlorene Tochter.

David Ali Rashed As Elja

David Ali Rashed costars as Elja in the Netflix series, one of the main siblings who protects the Atlantian cube and teams up with an electronics expert. Rashid made his movie debut in the 2017 feature Tiger Milk. He’s since appeared in O Beautiful Night, Totgeschwiegen, and Das perfekte Geheimnis.

Emilio Sakraya As Kiano

Emilio Sakraya portrays Kiano, the third focal sibling. He’s captured by the Crows and becomes a sex slave for their leader, Varvara. Saraya portrayed Denis in Cold Feet and JC in Warrior Nun.

Oliver Masucci As Moses

Oliver Masucci co-stars as Moses, a man who collects electronics from the old world and befriends Elja. His motivations are unclear, but he proves to a loyal friend to the teenage boy. Masucci portrayed Ulrich Nielsen in the hit Netflix series Dark and Georges Verhoeven in The Girlfriend Experience season 3.

Melika Foroutan As Varvara

Melika Foroutan portrays Varvara, the leader of the Crows in the Netflix series. She’s a violent individual who castrates men and threatens to kill Kiano on the spot if he doesn’t satisfy her sexual desires. Fouroutan starred as the title character in the 2020 film Pari. She’ll soon appear as Rasha in Mediterráneo.

Ana Ularu (Above) as Grieta: A high-ranking Crow warrior who tells Liv what happened to her family. Ana Ularu portrayed Vayentha in Inferno and West in Emerald City.

James Faulkner as General Francis F. Cameron: A Crimson leader who identifies a plot to deceive him. James Faulkner portrayed Lord Sinderby in Downton Abbey and Randyll Tarly in Game of Thrones.

Robert Finster as David Voss: A Crimson commander who rescues Liv. Robert Finster starred as Sigmund Freud in the 2020 series Freud.

Jeanette Hain as Amena: Moses’ mechanic contact. Jeanette Hain portrayed Brigitte in The Reader and Baroness Lehzen in The Young Victoria.

Tribes of Europa released in February 2021 on Netflix.
