The Mid-Saga update has been released for Tribes of Midgard, bringing new runes, Starter Kits, and combat challenges for players to explore. Tribes of Midgard was released in July with the goal to create a welcoming, cooperative, survival experience with a focus on fantasy and folklore. Since its launch, Tribes of Midgard has received feedback from fans, giving Norsfell ideas for improvement that have been addressed in the recent update. The Mid-Saga content focuses on boosting gameplay variety while balancing existing mechanics, with a goal to keep Tribes of Midgard fresh and exciting for players.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Tribes of Midgard launched with 30 different runes to be used in gameplay. Runes like Lucky Loot increase the odds of a double loot drop from enemies by 20%, while Last Laugh causes the player to explode upon death, creating a blast of heavy damage. Several runes received changes with the update to make them more effective, like Einher-a-JAR, which now increases damage dealt by jar types to 75% instead of 50%. Other runes like Nothing To Hide have had their rarity increased, making them harder to find.

The Mid-Saga update has also added five new runes for players to collect, giving Tribes of Midgard a total of 35 runes. The new runes include Life Loot, Björn Aghast, Making Waves, Storm Chaser, and Bomb Voyage. Each rune offers new special bonuses and could be useful in both defending bases and battling bosses like Fenrir. According to an interview with Screen Rant, Norsfell is exploring “How to make the experience new”, with goals set to refresh Tribes of Midgard’s gameplay continuously in each season and update. While adding different content can be a gamble, it creates opportunities to try new things in Tribes of Midgard and helps prevent survival-style gameplay from becoming monotonous or formulaic.

Tribes Of Midgard’s Five New Runes Are Part Of Three New Starter Kits

To help familiarize players with the new rune options, three new Starter Kits have been added to Tribes of Midgard. The kits are designed to give a good boost when entering a new world and encourage players to try new starting strategies, rather than relying on previous tactics. Below are the Starter Kits added in Tribes of Midgard’s Season One Mid-Saga update, and what each kit includes.

  • Life Giver Starter Kit – Begin a new world with x1 Healing Brew and x1 “Life Loot” rune.
  • Life & Death Starter Kit – Begin a new world with x1 “Last Laugh” rune and x1 “Björn Aghast” rune.
  • Shield Offense Starter Kit – Begin a new world with x1 “Shivered Shield III” rune and x1 “Making Waves” rune.

While the kits are available now, starting October 12 the new content can be combined with the Tribes of Midgard Valhalloween event to celebrate the spooky season. Players will be able to use the new rune buffs to protect their base from “Val Helthings”, and tackle encounters with pumpkin-headed goblins. There will also be three sets of Valhalloween-themed cosmetic armor and cosmetic weapons for players to collect. The new content and balance changes will hopefully keep Tribes of Midgard players engaged as season one concludes in the coming months.
