One of the kings of voice acting is the one and only Troy Baker. From animated movies and TV shows to video games, Troy Baker has been the voice (and sometimes the face) of many iconic characters. He was Joel in The Last Of Us, Talion in Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War, Booker DeWitt In BioShock Infinite, and Erron Black in the new Mortal Kombat games.

One of Troy Baker’s most famous traits is how nerdy he proudly is. This has led to him getting so many roles in iconic franchises, especially in the Marvel and DC universes. For over ten years, Troy Baker has provided his own take on famous superheroes and villains but what are his best?

10 Hawkman (Justice League Action)

In four different episodes of the short-lived Justice League Action, Troy Baker provided the voice of Hawkman. It wasn’t his largest role nor his deepest performance but for a fun, colorful, and action-packed superhero show for kids?

Troy delivered exactly what was needed for the role. The only downside is that Hawkman was only in four episodes so Troy didn’t get much to do.

9 Loki (Marvel Animated Universe)

Troy Baker has played many Marvel characters across different forms of media. One that many do not even recognize is Loki throughout Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and other entries of the animated TV Marvel universe.

While it’s clear his take is heavily inspired by Tom Hiddleston of the movies, Troy Baker never comes across as an impression of Hiddleston. Troy leaves his unique mark on the character and it’s actually difficult to recognize Baker’s voice in the role.

8 Jason Todd (The Arkamverse)

The character of Jason Todd left fans divided when he was introduced into the Arkhamverse; some felt the character was a waste of potential especially with the predictable twist while others enjoyed the Arkham Knight take on the character.

Regardless of the character itself, there is no denial that Troy Baker put everything he had into the performance of the character. The broken mind, endless rage, and obsession over Batman’s death comes through perfectly. Troy openly admitted his love for the character when he was on Retro Replay and it shows through his performance.

7 Two-Face (The Arkhamverse)

Before Jason Todd, Troy Baker joined the Arkhamverse in Batman: Arkham City. It was in this game that fans were introduced to Two-Face as a villain for both Batman and Catwoman. To play someone with a personality disorder like Two-Face requires a lot of acting range.

Troy Baker shows that range beautifully as he constantly swaps between Harvey Dent and Two-Face with ease. The conversations with himself are straight out of a comic book but executed like something out of Split which is why fans gladly welcomed Troy back as Two-Face in Batman: Arkham Knight.

6 Geo-Force (Young Justice)

Troy Baker’s long time friend and colleague Nolan North had made waves playing Superboy and Superman in the Young Justice animated series. So fans were filled with glee when Nolan and Troy reunited once again when Troy was introduced in the third season.

Troy Baker plays Brion Markov AKA Geo-Force, a rather complex hero who shows lots of brightness and darkness that Troy portrays remarkably well. It also could have been easy for Troy to go with a more cartoonish accent but his Eastern-European accent feels rather genuine and never falters when Troy has to be emotional or raise his voice.

5 Hawkeye (Marvel Animated Universe)

Troy Baker’s first big step into the Marvel world was when The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was revived as Avengers Assemble. The very talented Chris Cox did not return but was replaced by Troy Baker who filled the shoes perfectly.

Despite visual similarities to the films, Troy does not portray Hawkeye like Jeremy Renner’s version at all. Troy Baker’s Hawkeye is more akin to a guy who never grew out of his college party animal phase but also happens to be the greatest archer in the world. He’s funny, he’s charismatic, and a bit of a child at times but in the end, he’s a hero with a heart of gold.

4 Simon Krieger (Spider-Man: Miles Morales)

Insomniac’s Marvel universe had fans hoping Troy would finally get his dream role as Daredevil. While that may still be on the table for the future, Troy Baker did join the Insomniac world as the villain Simon Krieger. Krieger debuted in Spider-Man: Miles Morales as the main antagonist.

Though nothing exactly new, Troy Baker effectively portrays the charismatic businessman who is secretly a megalomaniac and a psychopath. It’s not easy to make the players hate a villain so much that they can’t wait to beat them and Troy brings that sliminess just right in making Krieger into one of the most hate-worthy villains.

3 Batman (Various)

It’s not often that Batman gets a new voice actor. DC has a tendency to stick to what they know works so that’s why Kevin Conroy has played the character for over thirty years. However, once in a great while, a new voice comes along and usually delivers. Troy Baker was one of those new voices.

Troy Baker began as LEGO Batman across video games and movies but eventually, Baker upgraded and became Batman for the Telltale games. He would then play Batman in other projects, providing a more neo-noir approach to his portrayal. Troy admits his love and admiration for Kevin Conroy and uses him as inspiration for his own Batman portrayal.

2 Bruce Banner (Marvel’s Avengers)

Regardless of how one might feel about Marvel’s Avengers by Crystal Dynamics, many can agree that the cast all put 100% effort into their roles. One of these was Troy Baker, this time taking on the role of Bruce Banner in a more broken and traumatized version of the character. Troy Baker brings a lot of what many fans felt the movies have been lacking: the pain and anger of the character.

Due to the events of A-Day, Bruce and the Hulk are divided again and Troy perfectly portrays the awkwardness of Bruce as he tries to keep his anger under control. Troy also has great chemistry with Sandra Saad’s Kamala Khan leading to an adorable friendship between the two characters.

1 The Joker (Various)

Taking on Batman? That’s a tough act to follow but Troy Baker’s most challenging comic book role would have to be replacing Mark Hamill as The Joker. Many fans doubted Troy when he was announced to play the Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins. Fortunately, Troy Baker proved he was worthy by blowing everyone’s minds.

His incarnation of the Joker is very much an impression of Mark Hamill’s portrayal but with youth to the character. Troy was able to bring the twisted yer charismatic nature of the character. Troy even got to play both Batman and the Joker in the same movie with Batman VS The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fans also agree that if Mark Hamill were to retire from the character, Troy Baker is the best choice to replace him.
