Twilight changes its official Twitter bio after BTS member Jin offers a fresh take on the teen romance franchise. Stephenie Meyer’s vampire-centric, werewolf-containing book and film series chronicles the epic courtship between a human high school student, Bella Swan, and her vampire classmate, Edward Cullen. Additional supernatural species enter the action as the story progresses, notably including a population of werewolves that stand at odds with their vampire neighbors.

Both the Twilight series and the South Korean boy band BTS possess huge, passionate international fanbases with active online communities. The two fandoms intersected this week when BTS member Kim Seok-jin (a.k.a. Jin) mentioned Meyer’s series in a clip posted online. The video is from RUN BTS!, a trivia talk show-style web series in which the band members answer questions and complete challenges. When the group is asked to name “some fairytales involving wolves,” Jin unexpectedly answers with Twilight, eliciting laughter from his bandmates. The callout made waves among dual fans of the band and wolf tale, who were excited to hear the artist acknowledge the Twilight franchise.

Whoever runs the Twilight Twitter account is evidently also a BTS fan, as the official @Twilight profile has been altered to reflect Jin’s interpretation of the story. The Twilight Saga‘s Twitter bio now reads: “the official twitter account of that fairytale involving wolves.” The new bio is obviously a tongue-in-cheek reference to Jin’s unintentionally game-changing literary criticism, in which the singer comically re-frames the vampire romance as, simply, a story involving wild canines. Here’s what Twilight‘s new profile looks like:

In addition to altering its bio, the @Twilight account joined in on the excitement in the comments this past Wednesday, tweeting “omg jin thinks about us” in response to the clip. The tweet was accompanied by a perfectly apropos GIF that quotes Jin speculating, “maybe I was a vampire in my previous life.” Since the clip was posted, the band’s and story’s respective Twitter fandoms have been hard at work pitching various fanfiction crossovers wherein Jin appears in the Twilight universe as a character. The possibility of a BTS/Twilight crossover isn’t entirely out of the question, as no other than Lionsgate joined in on the conversation with a meme suggesting that the major film studio finds the prospect “interesting…very interesting.”

For now, the internet banter between the fandoms is all in good fun, and the fanfiction dream-casting is mostly hypothetical. Although the Twilight movie series concluded in 2012 with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Meyer says she has more novels in the works, so there may be future opportunities for a BTS member to enter the Twilight universe. Kim Tae-hyung (a.k.a. V) is the only BTS member with an acting career as of now. Any film or book with a big enough audience is liable to be remade today, and the Twilight saga certainly meets that requirement.
