Here’s who’s coming back and who’s joining season 2 of The Umbrella Academy. Created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, The Umbrella Academy debuted on Netflix in February 2019, and was one of the platform’s biggest releases of the year, surpassing one of the streaming giant’s most popular titles. The series was renewed for a second season a few weeks later, with a release date of July 31, 2020.

The Umbrella Academy follows the dysfunctional family of adopted siblings, the Hargreeves. All seven of them, along with other 36 babies, were born on the same day, at the same time, and none of their mothers was pregnant when the day began. This curious event caught the attention of eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who set out to adopt as many of those babies as he could, and got seven. Reginald trained them, as they all had unique superpowers, and formed the superhero team “the Umbrella Academy”. The Hargreeves didn’t have an easy life, and they parted ways, reuniting years later for Reginald’s funeral and to stop the fast-approaching apocalypse. By the end of season 1, the Hargreeves escaped the end of the world by jumping through time thanks to Five (Aidan Gallagher), who took his siblings with him.

Season 2 will see the Hargreeves in Dallas, but scattered between 1960 and 1963. The team will not only have to find each other and come up with a new plan to stop the apocalypse, but they will also have to face new enemies, courtesy of The Commission. The Hargreeves will also meet new people while on their individual journeys, who will make a big impact on their lives. Here’s the cast and character guide for The Umbrella Academy season 2.
