A Valheim player has found a way to build a creature that closely resembles Frankenstein. The survival game inspired by Viking and Norse mythology has been a major hit since it launched back in February. The number of active Valheim players has already reached the staggering number of nearly 8 million and the game’s popularity is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Valheim features a large number of players who continue to test the creative possibilities of the in-game world with mods and other changes. The number of alterations the game has already undergone since early development is too long to count. In addition to its growing popularity, Valheim continues to be one of Steam’s top sellers. The sky is the limit when it comes to modding. These include changes to the enemy difficulty levels, texture tweaks and even tributes to retro franchises. For instance, a large Pac-Man game was recently introduced to Valheim. Now it seems a different Valheim player is determined to pay tribute to another pop culture icon in the form of the monster Frankenstein.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Reddit user PonyPosts shared screenshots of their interesting and slightly disturbing creation. The Frankenstein-like creature features the head of a troll and the feet are cooked fish. The torso appears to be made up of a wooden piece of equipment. It will surely give other Valheim players inspiration to continue trying new things. It is just the latest example of how thorough the building system is. The invention has been dubbed “Frankenheim.” Now that is a fitting name.

Valheim players have been waiting for new content to be added for some time now. It seems their wait is finally coming to an end. The title of the upcoming update is Hearth and Home. The update includes new features that can be applied to building and cooking. It should give players eager for more content new ways to expand the core game’s extensive building mechanisms. While no release date has been officially confirmed yet by Iron Gate, the update is expected to launch by mid-June. It is part of a larger 2021 roadmap. Specific details concerning additional roadmap content have not been confirmed but they are set to revamp combat, multiplayer, and shipbuilding.

The Iron Gate development team has applied small changes along the way for textures but has largely prioritized fixing any bugs that appeared throughout the base game. Players have been craving new content so badly, leading to some pretty interesting creations as they continue to find ways to enjoy the game in the meantime. Iron Gate should have no problems building from its early success with the imminent release of Hearth and Home.

Valheim is available on PC.
