Allowing players to explore as a battle-slain warrior, Valheim takes a lot of inspiration from Norse mythology and culture as players are left to explore a vast procedurally generated world. Be it snow-capped mountains or lush forests, players will be allowed to explore and overcome a harsh world as they attempt to bring order to the realm known as Valheim.

Known for its combat and extensive crafting system, players will primarily spend their time either fighting various enemies or building settlements and ships. It is a game that really takes inspiration from the stereotypical Viking lifestyle: fight, build, and conquer. In a land filled with mythical creatures and various biomes, players may come across a dragon egg in their travels. But what is it used for? And where can more of them be found?

Where to Find Dragon Eggs in Valheim and What They are Used For

Dragon eggs can be found in nests within mountain biomes. The biome itself hosts enemies like wolves and stone golems, but the nests scattered throughout the snowy terrain are usually guarded by drakes. These aerial enemies are capable of using frost breath to slow down and damage any player that they attack, but they are still fairly easy to kill with a bow.

The egg itself is scaled and vibrantly colored, and is described as being heavier than it looks. It isn’t a trophy and it can’t be used as a crafting component to either make or repair gear. Instead, dragon eggs are meant to serve as a material offering for summoning a specific boss: Moder.  Moder is a giant wyvern with frosty breath and significant physical abilities. With her frost attacks being able to slow the player considerably for 15 seconds, she can become a very difficult fight if she is able to land her physical attacks on a weakened player.

But to summon her, the player will need to collect 3 dragon eggs and place them upon a stone altar that is somewhere within the mountain region. The altar should be easily identifiable with its stone architecture and three offering bowls. Keep in mind that each dragon egg has a weight of 200, so players will need to either work with friends or take several trips to and from the altar to fill all of the offering bowls. But when all three eggs are placed, the area should begin to glow red and show dark runes on the ground. Moder should enter the area not too long afterward.
