Valorant is a free-to-play competitive shooter that offers some rather interesting mechanics. Reyna is becoming a favorite among the roster of diverse characters and this guide will explain how she plays.

Officially launched on June 2, 2020, by Riot Games, Valorant is a team-based tactical shooter that takes place sometime in the future as they battle for territories and supremacy. Players will play in 2 teams of 5 as they either attack or defend objectives. There are 11 playable characters called “Agents” and they will battle across 5 maps; Range, Ascend, Bind, Haven and Split. Valorant has a ballistic system that encourages constant movement and also provides a sense of perpetual danger. There are a plethora of weapons that range from high-powered sniper rifles to intimate devastating shotguns. If all this isn’t enough, every Agent comes with specific perks that not only give them a distinct personality but also an added edge in combat.

Every player will definitely have their preference with which Agent they’ll select. Some Agents are really good at holding down objectives while others shine at offensive attacks. For beginners, there is plenty to experiment with and ultimately deciding who is going to be their main. One of the most notable character out of the bunch is Reyna. Not only does she come with an appealing aesthetic, but she is also a ‘Duelist’ which means she can stand toe-to-toe against any other Agent when fully charged up. In addendum to the slew of firearms available, Agents also come with special move-sets and abilities that give them a specific flavor. Reyna is quick, agile and provides droppable power-ups for herself that boosts her stats and also provide disabling tools that can disorient enemies.

How To Play As Reyna in Valorant

Reyna is the newest addition to the roster of Agents and she has some rather useful tricks up her sleeves. She acts as an energy parasite that collects orbs after killing an enemy, gradually building up her strength and abilities. Hence, the more she kills, the more deadly she becomes. Therefore, during the start of every match, she’ll need to stick with her teammates so she can build herself up. With her abilities fully charged up, Reyna can help down opposition in a heartbeat. Every agent comes with 4 distinct abilities; two Basics, one Signature, and one Ultimate. Two basic abilities can be purchased during pre-round, Signature abilities recharge throughout the round and Ultimate abilities charge up during combat. Reyna’s abilities are; Dismiss, Devour, Leer, and Empress.

  • Soul Orbs (Passive)

Whenever Reyna kills an enemy, they’ll drop a Soul Orb in which she only has 3 seconds to pick up. Once enough Orbs are collected, she can activate one (out of two) basic abilities; Dismiss or Devour. Devour is the first basic ability that when Reyna picks up enough orbs, health will fully restore with +50 armor. Dismiss the other basic ability that will make her invincible and invisible temporarily. Whenever invincible, she won’t be able to attack. Both of these basic abilities are circumstantial and can really help Reyna while in a pinch. Thus, they can be used (while also being enhanced) while Reyna’s Ultimate ability is activated.

  • Leer

This is her Signature ability and it provides a ‘flash effect’ that can blind opponents from clear across the map. Even though other characters have a similar ability, what makes Leer different is that it won’t affect Reyna and her teammates. It can be used in either an offensive or defensive situations, but be wise on how to position the eye. One-shot from an enemy will destroy it.

  • Empress

This is Reyna’s Ultimate ability and when activated she will have a ‘bloodlust’ effect that’ll increase her damage. Each kill will reset its timer making her a potential unlimited killing machine. She will have rapid-fire and it provides a crescendo of death with her abilities constantly adding up with each frag. It’s best used during tight situations and even when she’s by herself. Even though it’s tempting to use as soon as it’s charged up, it’s recommended to be treated as an “ace up her sleeve”.

Reyna is unique with her vampiric abilities that take some time to set up. Once she reaches her peak, she can quickly turn the tide during any losing match. She’s not meant to be used as a ‘lone wolf’, but rather a significant member of the pack. She can also be used as a ‘trickster’ of sorts with her ‘Dismiss’ ability. In which she can quickly disappear out of a firefight, or just simply flank the opponent. Players who are thinking about using her should wait until they can find a competent team they can trust. Once they do, Reyna can become a powerhouse.
