Rightfully named Mystic Falls, this magical fictional town in The Vampire Diaries has more than just Vampires to worry about. Although Vampires play a big role in the story with brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore at the forefront, fans know there are much more mythical creatures that serve as nightmare-inducing antagonists and obstacles for the kids of Mystic Falls.

With all the mystical creatures roaming around, creatures that literally took over and call Mystic Falls home, it’s easy to find the best or favorite ones we may be able to relate to in one way or another. Looking at Astrology, let’s categorize each creature’s personality and match them to Zodiac signs.

12 Doppelganger – Aries

Doppelgangers are the most human mystical creatures, with the only difference being that doppelgangers were created to maintain a balance between immortal vampires and humans. Since immortality is against nature, nature restored the balance by creating identical people to continue the cycle of life.

The most well known Doppelganger is Elena’s evil twin Katarina, the girl who drove a wedge between the Salvatore brothers and was responsible for a lot of deaths throughout the show. Doppelgangers are the first mystical creatures after the Vampire and do everything to get ahead in life without living in their counterpart’s shadow, they are true Aries.

11 Werewolf – Taurus

Werewolves in TVD are the sworn enemies of Vampires, with just one bite proving to be extremely lethal for them. Like most interpretations of werewolves, this version is highly unstable, unpredictable, and very, very angry. They completely take over their host bodies and turn on anyone around them, with no provocation.

One of the most well-known werewolves is Tyler Lockwood, a rage-filled angsty teen who’s flirted with the line of good and bad. Becoming a werewolf only reinforced Tyler’s stubbornness, rage, but it made him less careless and it somewhat humbled him. Werewolves can be best classified as Taureans.

10 Hybrids – Gemini

Arguably one of the most powerful creatures in the TVD universe is the Hybrid. As the name suggests, they are a combination of two mystical creatures, often werewolves and vampires or vampires and witches, they share the powers of both creatures and that can be big trouble for anyone opposing them.

Since they can use their multiple powersets to take on any other creature and are adaptable for any attack, Hybrids are Geminis. Geminis are adaptable, hard to read, and often times dangerous when they don’t get what they want, an ideal description of the most famous hybrid, Klaus.

9 Original – Leo

Arguably the most powerful types of vampires, the Originals are the ones that started it all. As the first vampires, they’ve had literal centuries to perfect their powerset and could easily take on any other vampire due to their immense power. Since they were created by magic instead of turning like other vampires, they are virtually indestructible and really hard to take down.

The most famous of the Originals are the Mikaelson siblings that have proven to be some trouble but maintain their classy, arrogant, and attention-loving personalities. Their confidence, their ability to draw people in, all make them total Leos.

8 Psychic – Virgo

They may be humans, but they possess a powerset that makes them powerful and very dangerous. With the ability to read minds, telepathy, mind control, and even interdimensional travel, they are very methodical.

Arcadius, Sybil, and Seline are among the most famous psychics and have been known to cause a lot of trouble for our protagonists. They are very careful with their planning and patient enough to see their whole plan come through, like a Virgo.

7 Anchor – Libra

Anchors are some of the most tortured beings in all of the series. They serve as a passageway between the living and the dead, meaning they can feel every mystical creature’s death as they go from the side of the living to the side of the dead. It’s a tough job and no one in their right mind would sign up which is why it is something that is just given to someone, which in this case was Bonnie Bennett.

Serving as a balance for both the living and the dead, a literal bridge between the two worlds, an Anchor represents balance, which means they represent Libras.

6 Vampire – Scorpio

The creatures the entire show revolves around, the most famous of the creatures and the ones that brought all the trouble to Mystic Falls. Vampires are very different than other interpretations, with them having strength, speed, physic manipulation, and a thirst for human blood.

They may look like normal humans on the surface, but when they are preying, we see the ugly side to them. Vampires in the series are very used to getting what they want, are very passionate about who they love, and are very manipulative. Even the good vampires struggle with maintaining their good persona, which makes Vampires true Scorpios.

5 Passenger – Cancer

Passengers are magical spirits that possess a host body and are activated by magic words or charms. They take over the body and make it their own, with the host having no control over them. They are parasites and can remain dormant for decades until they are summoned.

One of the most well-known Passengers is Gregor, who possessed Matt Donovan to do his bidding. Passengers are clingy and only possess strong individuals while giving their all to accomplish a successful overtaking of the host body. They are true Cancers.

4 Siphoners – Sagittarius

Siphoners do exactly what their name suggests, they take away the abilities/life force of any creature they come into contact with and can prove to be very dangerous. Some get so lost that they turn into villains and others are careful with their abilities to avoid hurting anyone.

One of the most well-known siphoners was Malachai Parker, someone who redeemed themselves but was nonetheless a threat to our heroes. Siphoners are very confident in their abilities and will say anything or do anything, relying on their powers to take down anyone who opposes them, they are true Sagittariuses.

3 Ghost – Capricorn

In a show dealing with a lot of mystical creatures, we are bound to see some deaths (some characters even more than once). But the great part is that it’s almost never the end and we always see the characters come back in one way or another, and one of the most popular methods is by becoming a ghost.

Just about every main character spent time as a ghost but worked tirelessly to cross back into the living. most ghosts don’t want to be dead or cursed to walk eternity alone so they work hard to get out, making them true Capricorns.

2 Siren – Aquarius

Sirens are manipulative creatures that use their addictingly good looks to lure unsuspecting victims to their death. They remain beautiful and immortal by sucking the life out of their victims and leaving them in literal dust.

Sybil is one of the most well-known Sirens, using her many bags of tricks to almost taking down the Salvatore brothers. Sirens lock on to their prey and will use careful and patient planning to manipulate them, making them true Aquarians.

1 Witch – Pisces

Witches are the most normal out of all the creatures but they are still one of the most powerful. Born as humans with magical powers, they could use spells, incantations, and control objects as well as stand toe to toe with other powerful creatures, as long as they are with their coven.

The most well known and somewhat stable of the witches is Bonnie Bennett, a descendant of some of the most powerful witches. She quickly masters her gifts and like other witches she is fair-minded, and a mediator to the rest of her friend group. Witches are true Pisces.
