Similar to the indie roguelike Dead CellsVampire Survivors offers a variety of unique and engaging mechanics, such as its weapon evolution system, which keep players hooked in its action gameplay loop. To create a powerful evolved weapon, players must combine a specific weapon and accessory. Additionally, an update in January 2022 added a new mechanic called Unions, which are evolutions between two weapons, like the new types in Dead Cells‘ Barrels o’ Fun Update. Currently, there is only one Vampire Survivors weapon Union, but more will doubtless arrive in future updates.

However, before players can perform weapon evolutions in Vampire Survivors, they need to fulfill three vital prerequisites. First, fans must reach Level 8 with the weapon they want to evolve. This process requires that they use the weapon during their playthrough. Next, they must find the correct Accessory necessary for the evolution to occur. Finally, players need to open a chest after the timer reaches the 10-minute mark during a run. Once these three conditions have been met, Vampire Survivors can evolve their weaponry.

Before discussing each weapon evolution and the corresponding item needed, players might want to know how to create the newest weapon union in the game. By obtaining the Peachone and Ebony Wings, players can make the Vandalier, a weapon that combines the attacks of the Peachone and Ebony Wings. Similar to Accessory/Weapon Evolutions, players must complete three prerequisites to obtain this Union. First, unlock the Peachone by surviving for 10 minutes, and then get Ebony Wings by leveling Peachone to 7. Once both the Peachone and Ebony Wings reach Level 8, players will attain the Vandalier Union.

How to Evolve Weapons in Vampire Survivors

Here are the Accessories and weapon combinations that currently qualify for weapon evolutions in Vampire Survivors.

  • Whip and Hollow Heart evolve into Bloody Tear – deals critical damage and absorbs HP
  • Magic Wand and Empty Tome evolve into Holy Wand – fires without delay like the fast Toothpick weapon in Dead Cells
  • Knife and Bracer evolve into Thousand Edge – fires without delay
  • Axe and Candelabrador evolve into Death Spiral – can pierce through enemies
  • Cross and Clover evolve into Heaven Sword – deals critical damage
  • King Bible and Spellbinder evolve into Unholy Vespers – no cooldown
  • Fire Wand and Spinach evolve into Hellfire – can pierce through enemies

Keep in mind that Vampire Survivors is still in development, so weapon evolutions can possibly be changed or removed.
