Lisa Vanderpump wishes Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute weren’t fired from Bravo’s hit show, Vanderpump Rules. Amid the Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020, the OG SUR-vers were put in hot water after it was revealed that they called the police on their former cast mate Faith Stowers, the only Black star of the show, for a crime that she did not commit. Though they later apologized, Bravo took very swift action and terminated Kristen and Stassi from the series. The network also told season 8 additions Brett Caprioni and Max Boyens, who faced backlash for past offensive tweets, that they could not return to the series.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Since the public layoff, Stassi and Kristen have laid low, with the exception of a few updates on how the reality stars are learning and growing from their mistakes. Though it was a rough time to go through, Stassi never blamed her former boss for her ultimate fate on Bravo. Instead, she and Lisa had a friendly chat. The restauranteur knows her former employees aren’t racist, but hopes that this public moment is an eye opener in which they begin to have more empathy for other people and their point of views.

Now that Lisa has had time to reflect on the series of events that unfolded on her Bravo spin-off series, she told Page Six that Stassi and Kristen might have learned a bigger lesson if they had to prove themselves on national TV. “I would have preferred to chastise them and see them learn from their mistakes as we’ve seen so many youngsters do on the show. But that Bravo’s decision,” Lisa said. The boss lady continued to explain how everyone had a lot of reactions to their behavior, but at the end of the day, Stassi and Kristen brought a lot to the show and she misses their presence.

But many of the other cast members don’t agree with Lisa’s point of view. Ariana Madix for example feel likes the show is “fresh” without her former co-stars. “One is not better than the other, but it does feel exciting and different [without them]. I do think it has potential to show a different side of everybody,” Ariana said, adding that there’s more room to shine without their polarizing behavior taking away from the others. “It feels like everyone’s on a completely equal playing field now.” That said, Ariana admits she does care about Stassi and Kristen, and still makes an effort to see them when she can.

Lisa’s desire to have Stassi and Kristen learn from their mistakes like others have done in front of Bravo’s cameras seems like a want for more drama and ratings. Fans of the show have watched other cast members learn and grow, such as James Kennedy who had a long running storyline of sobriety and anger management, but that is on a complete different level than racist behavior. Stassi and Kristen continuing on Vanderpump Rulesmight have ultimately sunk Lisa’s ratings as boycotts would have been inevitable.
