Vanderpump Rules: Tom Schwartz & Katie Maloney Separated In February

Newly broken up Vanderpump Rules couple Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz have reportedly been separated since February. The speculation of their break up began in the middle of March after Katie was spotted without her wedding ring in a recent Instagram photo with former castmate Stassi Schroeder. Fans were quick to take to the comment section, questioning what is going on in Katie and Tom’s marriage.

Less than a week after the photo was posted, Katie and Tom announced their split in separate and lengthy Instagram posts. Both revealed that while they still had love for each other, their marriage was no longer working for them. Tom assured his followers that Katie was the one who decided it was time to split and that he wasn’t the one to break her heart. Despite being spotted having lunch in Los Angeles together, Katie officially filed for divorce earlier this week.

In the divorce petition documents obtained by Page Six, Katie listed her and Tom’s separation date as February 12, 2022, two days before Valentine’s Day. The 35-year-old, who cited the reason for the split as the ever so classic “irreconcilable differences,” is also asking the courts to terminate the ability to award spousal support to her or Tom. In the documents, Katie also marked anything she and the 39-year-old made after their separation to be “sole and separate property.” Katie officially filed for divorce on March 22, over a month after their legal separation date. The couple had been together for 12 years, three of those as an officially married couple.

Despite having their wedding in 2016, which was captured for Vanderpump Rules, Tom never filed the legal documents until 2019. Tom and Katie’s love story began dating sometime in 2010 when they were introduced by former Vanderpump Rules star Kristen Doute. While Katie and Tom didn’t hit it off at first when they met for the second time, they immediately clicked. Despite the ups and downs, they had throughout their relationship, Tom and Katie seemed unbreakable. Even after the rumors of infidelity and the lack of intimacy, the pair seemed like they were in it for the long haul. It seems they may have finally hit their breaking point at the thought of spending another Valentine’s Day as a couple.
