Vanessa Hudgens Says She Has The Ability To Speak To Ghosts

Actor Vanessa Hudgens claims that she has the ability to speak to ghosts. Ghosts are one of the most dividing concepts among people. Some truly believe in a life after death, while others find the notion impossible. It has been the basis for some of the greatest films and television in history, which makes sense given how many people in Hollywood seem to be sure that ghosts do, in fact, exist. Notable celebrities who claim to have had encounters with ghosts include Kristen Stewart, Helena Bonham Carter, Megan Mullally, Keanu Reeves, and Mathew McConaughey to name just a few.

The supernatural is not the first thing most people would likely think of when they think of Hudgens. While the actor has had quite a varied career, most probably will first recall Hudgens’ singing ability. Hudgens’ breakout role was in Disney’s hit High School Musical, and throughout her career she worked on both High School Musical sequels, as well as enjoying a successful music career, and more recently appearing in the Oscar nominated film tick, tick…BOOM! However, it appears Hudgens talents lay beyond simply singing and acting.

In a recent interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show (via People), Hudgens has claimed that she has had the ability to communicate with the dead since she was eight years old. According to Hudgens, after several run-ins with the supernatural over her life, she’s “accepted the fact that I see things and I hear things.” Hudgens earliest memory of strange happenings comes from when the actor was eight, and a toy duck began operating by itself and following her. With many more experiences since then, Hudgens has also admitted to owning a “spirit box” which helps her analyze “radio frequencies really quickly.” This is a method often used by ghost hunters to try and identify ghostly voices. “I remember getting ready for school when I was 8 years old, and there was … You know those ducks [toys] that you pull [the string]? There was one of those on the dining room table, and I started walking, and it just started going alongside me.

“I kind of shut it down for a while because it’s scary. The unknown is scary. But recently I was like, ‘No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I’m going to lean into it.'”

While Hudgens has reportedly had this ability for some time, she has only in recent years began to actually accept and learn about it. Hudgens has stated that while for a long time the ability frightened her, she now sees it as a gift. The timing makes sense, as people in general have seen a slow shift towards being more open to the ideas of the supernatural. This doesn’t necessarily mean more people truly believe in it, so much as more people are willing to accept the possibility without calling those who do believe crazy. It is possible that this could have to do with the surge in supernatural documentaries that was seen throughout the 2010’s on YouTube and even Netflix.

Whether or not one believes Hudgens has the ability to communicate with the beyond, it can’t be denied that strange events have followed the actor around. They could, of course, be a series of strange coincidences, however, the actor truly claims to have felt presences, even going so far as to be able to identify one as specifically female. While only Hudgens can verify her own stories, perhaps one day people will come up with the right technology so everyone can see what she sees.
