10 Weevils Wobble But They Don’t Go Down – 8.3

Before Hulu decided to resurrect the cult hit series, the episode “Weevils Wobble But They Don’t Go Down” was the penultimate episode of the entire show.

Unsurprisingly, Veronica spends the bulk of the episode trying to prove that Weevil is innocent of the crime that he’s being accused of, selling fraudulent debit cards to Hearst students. The cherry on the cake is the revelation that despite being involved with Parker, Logan’s feelings for Veronica are anything but over.

9 Heads You Lose – 8.3

Although the most recent season of Veronica Mars is undoubtedly the show’s most controversial as well, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t also home to some genuinely great episodes of the series.

The fourth episode of season 4 is also one of the highest-rated, and in it, Veronica’s investigation takes her in the direction of some of her former villains. She reconnects with Tim Foyle and Mercer Hayes to see if they have any info, and she also runs into Vinnie Van Lowe and Deputy Leo throughout the episode.

8 Losing Streak – 8.3

Veronica Mars is always primarily driven by the mystery that Veronica is hoping to solve, but “Losing Streak” is one of the best episodes of season 4, as well one of the best episodes in the entire series, because of the development of the character’s relationships.

Namely, when Veronica realizes that Keith might be sick and neither of them has any idea what’s happening, the close relationship between the father and daughter investigators comes front and center. And of course, the explosive ending doesn’t hurt its rating either.

7 Entering A World Of Pain – 8.3

“Entering A World of Pain” is one of the middle episodes of Veronica Mars‘ fourth season, and it’s understandably beloved by the audience.

The episode sees the return of a few fan-favorite characters including Vinnie Van Lowe, Leo D’Amato, and even Clarence Wiedman, and a highlight of the episode is Veronica and Keith tag-teaming some investigative fieldwork. The episode ends on a shocker as well, with Congressman Daniel Maloof getting shot by Tyler Carr.

6 Gods Of War – 8.5

“Gods of War” is the episode that directly follows “Entering A World Of Pain,” and it’s arguably the last episode that really feels like a Veronica Mars episode.

Veronica and Keith finally crack the case and discovered that Penn is actually a copycat bomber, and this particular episode is likely so highly rated because it’s a classic VM episode and it’s the final episode in the series before it decided to devastate fans, pull a Game of Thrones, and shockingly kill off a fan-favorite character out of nowhere.

5 A Trip To The Dentist – 8.7

While Lilly Kane’s murder has obviously been the driving force behind the mystery of the first season of Veronica Mars, another huge question mark has always been what really happened with Veronica’s sexual assault.

“A Trip To The Dentist” digs deep into the events at Shelly Pomroy’s party, but unsurprisingly, everyone’s recollections of that night differ. Veronica finally believes that she’s discovered the truth, but not everything has been revealed just yet, and more importantly, she stumbles on a discovery that she doesn’t even realize is the key to solving Lilly’s murder.

4 Spit & Eggs – 8.7

For the first half of Veronica Mars‘ third season, Veronica was investigating the serial rapist at Hearst. Veronica discovers that it’s not actually one perpetrator, but two, Mercer Hayes and Moe Flater. Veronica is intercepted and drugged by the duo, but she manages to outfox them.

Although Logan broke up with her earlier in the episode, he intentionally gets himself arrested so he can get some vengeance against the recently jailed rapists. And as a setup for the mystery in the second half of the season, Dean O’Dell is mysteriously killed.

3 The Bitch Is Back – 8.7

When a tape of Veronica and Piz getting intimate is disseminated to almost the entirety of the Hearst student body, Veronica is understandably enraged and looking for the culprit. Veronica’s investigation takes her down a bizarre rabbit hole involving a secret society at Hearst and surprisingly, Jake Kane.

When Veronica discovers that the perpetrator has connections to the Russian mob she uncharacteristically decides to let it go, but because Logan is Logan, he attacks him anyway.

2 Not Pictured – 9.0

Way back in season 1, Veronica thought she had discovered the answers behind her sexual assault, but “Not Pictured” reveals that her presumptions were incorrect.

Not only did Beaver sexually assault her, he had also been abused as a child by Woody Goodman. He was the one who blew up the bus, and blew up Woody’s plane as well. But on the plus side, despite getting acquitted, Aaron Echolls is killed by Clarence Wiedman on Duncan’s behalf.

1 Leave It To Beaver – 9.2

An investigative mystery series like Veronica Mars lives and dies by a compelling question that the characters need to answer, and that answer needs to be shocking and satisfying. And considering that “Leave It To Beaver” is the show’s highest-rated episode, it’s safe to say that the solution to the mystery of Lilly’s murder was worth a season of waiting.
