Warning: Spoilers for Walker season 2.

Following her character’s exit, Walkerstar Lindsey Morgan says she’s definitely open to making a return in the future. A loose reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, which aired in the 1990s and starred Chuck Norris, Walker sees Cordell Walker (Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki) attempt to balance his responsibilities as a father and a son with the tasking job of being a Texas Ranger. Morgan played Micki Ramirez, Cordell’s partner that has to contend with his impulsive and aggressive behavior as he struggles to cope with the murder of his wife. Over the course of the first season, the two characters come to rely on each other after an initially rocky start to their relationship.

It was reported in October that Morgan would be exiting Walker in season 2. At the time, it was noted that the actress was leaving The CW series for personal reasons. Morgan further clarified, in a statement, that she was leaving on good terms and spoke favorably of her experience with the cast and crew. Now that Micki’s farewell episode has aired, Morgan is speaking out about why she decided to walk away from her lead role on the reboot.

In an interview with EW, when asked if she’d be up for reprising the role of Micki in the future, Morgan responds unequivocally: “One-hundred percent. No questions asked,” she replies. The actress goes on to say that the decision to leave Walker was one of the hardest she’d ever made, explaining that it came down to a need to focus on her emotional health and her general well-being. Morgan’s quote is included below.

“One-hundred percent. No questions asked. Me leaving was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life and it’s really interesting because my life can parallel Micki’s a lot, and this was kind of a similar instance. I really need to take the time to take care of myself and my well-being physically and emotionally and mentally, and reevaluate how I got to where I am and make some changes. My life had been so much about my career, I had not cared for myself enough during my 20s. All of that work and running and ambition, it caught up to me and now I’m facing a lot of burnout.”

In an emotional midseason finale, Micki and her boyfriend Trey (Jeff Pierre) end their relationship as Micki decides she needs to return home to San Antonio to have the space to figure things out. Viewers have seen, since the beginning of Walker, how Morgan has avoided dealing with painful memories which ultimately resurfaces and leads her to make the decision to focus on herself. Prior to exiting, Micki leaves her gun and badge to Cordell. She also writes a letter to her partner, though the two do see each other before the episode is over. Cordell thanks Micki and, signifying how much their bond has grown, Micki tells Cordell that he’ll always be family to her.

Morgan has had a busy decade in front of the camera. Prior to taking on the character of Micki, and in addition to a variety of movie roles, the actress played Kristina Davis on the soap General Hospital. From there, she moved on to The 100 as Raven Reyes – a character she portrayed for seven seasons. While she’s open to returning to Walker in the future, as the series expands with a prequel set in the 1800s, Morgan is taking a step back to deal with the sort of burnout that many people experience.
