A new trailer for Walker, which shows Jared Padalecki stepping in as Walker, Texas Ranger, has been released. Starring Chuck Norris, the original Walker, Texas Ranger was a huge success and ran on CBS for eight seasons. Last year, the CW announced it would give Walker, Texas Ranger the reboot treatment in the form of a series titled Walker, with Supernatural star Padalecki slated as the title character.

Steering away from original plotlines, Walker follows Cordell (Padalecki), a widower with two children who relocates to Austin after being undercover for two years. Discovering the bulk of his work has just begun, while being haunted by the suspicious circumstances of his wife’s death, Walker will be joined by a new partner, Micki. Produced by Padalecki, Walker features Lindsey Morgan (The 100) as Walker’s partner, Keegan Allen (Pretty Little Liars) as Walker’s younger brother, Mitch Pileggi (The X-files) as Walker’s father, and Genevieve Padalecki as Walker’s deceased wife. Now the first trailer for Walker shows Padalecki taking the reins as the new Ranger in town.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Set to premiere on The CW on January 21, Walker released an official trailer that offers a look at Padalecki’s Texas Ranger on a mission. Padalecki posted the Walker trailer with the caption “It’s been a long road to get here, but it has my entire heart.” Teasing an action-packed series, the look at Walker shows Cordell still in turmoil over his wife’s death and exclaiming “Some things don’t add up!” as he clashes with his family while trying to uphold the law. Check out the trailer below that shows Walker could be one wild ride.

Of course, Walker is Padalecki’s first major role after the end of Supernatural, and the new series has been the talk of the town since the announcement of his casting as Walker. While stepping in Norris’ shoes as the Texas Ranger could be a challenge, Padalecki has proven he is the ideal choice to portray Cordell Walker.

In an era of reboots and revivals, bringing an iconic series back to life could be a hit or miss. Walker, Texas Ranger was a staple of television viewing during its time, and the announcement of a reboot was met with mixed reactions. However, the casting choice of Padalecki, and the powerhouse ensemble, has solidified a strong foundation for the reboot. With the attached star power, altered plotlines, and riveting trailer, Walkercould be a series with longevity for The CW.
