A new WandaVision behind-the-scenes video reveals how the visual effects were done for some of the show’s most magical scenes. It has just been a few weeks since the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany-led series wrapped up and Marvel Studios is already keeping the ball rolling with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But for some who are either catching up on the show or still haven’t moved on from it, a fresh featurette for it has been released.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic that forced Hollywood and the rest of the world to a standstill, Marvel Studios had to reshuffle their schedule a couple of times; that included pushing back its movie slate and leading with its small screen offerings. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was supposed to open up this new age of storytelling for the franchise, but due to delays in production, WandaVision was rolled out ahead of it. In hindsight, everything worked for the better as the mystical series set up a lot of the upcoming stories in the MCU.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a newly-released WandaVision behind-the-scenes video, Marvel Studios (via Marvel Studios Movies) pulls back the curtain on their process of making the nine-episode series. The clip tackles the ground-breaking first episode where the cast and crew filmed in front of a live studio audience. From there, it progresses towards the VFX-heavy finale. Watch it below:

Some of the information in the aforementioned clip has already been revealed in the WandaVision episode of Marvel Studios: Assembled — a comprehensive look at how MCU’s shows on Disney+ have been filmed. For this particular episode, the focus was on the first two outings of WandaVision as the creators really wanted to mimic the style and feel of the ’50s and ’60s sitcom. This is the reason why instead of simply using computer graphics for Wanda’s magic in the premiere, they opted to use wire work to have things floating around her which was fascinating to see.

With Marvel Studios moving forward with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it will be interesting to see how different the creative process was between the show. While WandaVision was big of mystical-looking effects, its contemporary is more grounded, with a narrative inspired by the buddy action comedies of the past. Given that, its setting is more similar to the real world. Nonetheless, given what’s been seen from it thus far, it looks good — particularly the opening action sequence with Sam.
