An executive producer on WandaVision doesn’t sound completely sure about what happened to the Beekeeper. With its finale, the Disney+ series focused on Wanda Maximoff and Vision resolved a lot of important storylines regarding its characters. But still, there are few key unanswered questions which viewers have wondered about.

One of those smaller questions occurred in WandaVision’s second episode, when a S.W.O.R.D. agent succeeds in entering the hex only to be turned into a beekeeper. This is done by Wanda, who essentially rewinds the scene and edits it in order to maintain her idealized reality. The agent isn’t mentioned moving forward, even as other Westview victims have recurred on the show. Most fans have assumed that, with the events of the finale, and specifically with Wanda lifting the hex, all of Westview’s residents are safe. But, for her part, executive producer Mary Livanos has playfully expressed some uncertainty.

In an interview with TV Line, Livanos was asked about the fate of the unfortunate S.W.O.R.D. agent that was turned into a beekeeper upon entering Wanda’s hex. Livanos does seem to think that, like the rest of Westview’s residents, the beekeeper ended up okay. But she doesn’t sound entirely sure. You can read the response below.

It was so fantastic to see the world’s response to the beekeeper. You know, at the end of the show, Wanda takes down her Hex in order to save the people of Westview from the trauma she was projecting. So hopefully he’s OK. We all hope for the best for him.

While it’s true that the Beekeeper’s predicament is perhaps darkly comedic, it does point to an issue with the finale of WandaVision. In its closing moments, essentially, the show introduces the interesting idea that Wanda has transferred her trauma onto the victims trapped in the hex. This leads to a confrontation where characters like Mrs. Hart and Herb confront Wanda about the agony that they’ve suffered. Despite the potential of this idea, and what it has to offer about the nature of grief, it’s set aside fairly quickly. To complicate matters even further, Wanda is ostensibly absolved of her actions by Monica near the end of the episode. This quick forgiveness arguably does a disservice to the interesting threads that the show previously set up.

An additional episode, even if it were on the shorter side in terms of running time, could have addressed the Beekeeper’s fate and allowed audiences to ruminate on some of the twists that didn’t come to pass. Considering how intricately the plot was set up in the early episodes, it’s a bit of a shame that the finale was a little rushed in arriving to its conclusions. But still, that doesn’t detract from the fact that WandaVision was a massive success that managed to endear audiences to even minor characters like the Beekeeper.
