The Maximoff Anomaly has been resolved at the end of WandaVision, but the show forgot to answer two big mysteries in the series. Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ offering was generally successful; despite a more divisive ending, it was a great way to kick off MCU Phase 4 following the events of the Infinity Saga. While it was not the universe-changing show that it was initially perceived to be, it set the stage up for some of the franchise’s upcoming projects without losing sight of its core narrative. However, amidst a myriad of plot twists and red herrings, it may have accidentally left some pressing questions unanswered.

While it started as something very different from the typical MCU fare, WandaVision episode 9, “The Series Finale” ended the same way its movie counterparts did — with a final battle, this time, between witches, Agatha Harkness and Wanda. Throughout the whole ordeal, Vision found himself facing off with the resurrected version of himself dubbed white Vision, while  Tommy and Billy each had a chance to showcase their respective powers. In the end, Wanda officially becomes the Scarlet Witch in the MCU, but not before she decided to end the Hex and bid her made-up family goodbye. Admittedly, not everyone’s a fan of how things wrapped up for the project with some disappointments over the string of teases that didn’t get any payoff. But more than Evan Peters’ reveal as Ralph Bohner and Mephisto’s non-involvement, there were also certain elements in WandaVision that didn’t get any resolution.

There are two major mysteries that WandaVision left unanswered. First is the identity of Jimmy Woo’s missing witness protection person, which was what originally drew him into the story. Debuting in Ant-Man and the Wasp as Scott Lang’s home arrest officer, the FBI agent flew across the country to New Jersey after reports that a witness in the organization’s protection program living in Westview went missing. Considering the effects of the Hex, the local police and anyone who knew said person suddenly didn’t have any recollection of them once they disappeared alongside the whole town. Granted that the WandaVision finale had a lot of stories to cover, the show could’ve at least circled back to the mystery even if they didn’t have plans to answer it right away, just to demonstrate the series didn’t totally forget about it.

Secondly, it’s unknown what exactly happened to the S.W.O.R.D agent who became a beekeeper upon entering Westview. The trailers for WandaVision highlighted the arrival of the mystery man who was eventually revealed to be Agent Franklin in episode 4; at this point, the show just established what Wanda’s pocket reality was from the outside world’s perspective. Following Monica Rambeau getting accidentally sucked into the bubble, S.W.O.R.D. tried various ways to infiltrate the magical barrier in an effort to reach out to her, as well as, know what’s exactly happening inside it. But, due to Wanda’s powers, everything that’s able to come in transformed into something that fit in the time setting of Wanda’s alternate reality. Franklin hasn’t been seen ever since his emergence from the manhole, prompting Wanda to rewind time and propel her fantasy reality to the ’70s.

Of course, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Marvel Studios still has every intention to answer these lingering questions from WandaVision. They’re known to play the long game and as previously mentioned, WandaVision set up several upcoming MCU Phase 4 projects. More than the beekeeper’s whereabouts, however, it’s Jimmy’s witness protection person who has a higher chance of factoring in the franchise’s future storytelling. Who knows, Peters’ Ralph Bohnner’s persona might ultimately be fake, revealing him to be the said mysterious person. This way, the actor can still return to the universe moving forward.
