Disney+’s WandaVision has officially been rated TV-PG, a lower rating than other Marvel productions. After all this time, the MCU’s first Disney+ offering will arrive in just over a week. The initial plan was to have The Falcon and the Winter Soldier kick things off last summer. However, when the coronavirus pandemic threw a wrench into Marvel’s plans, things changed. Now, WandaVision will debut on January 15 and herald in a very busy 2021 for the MCU. With nine episodes, WandaVision will stretch all the way into March before coming to an end before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s long-awaited debut.

WandaVision will star Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as the titular odd couple. With the tragedies of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame firmly behind them, Wanda and Vision settle down for an idyllic suburban life in the town of Westview. However, not everything is as it seems, partially because Vision himself is still dead after the events of Infinity War. There are many mysteries within WandaVision that have yet to be uncovered.

As of now, though, at least one question has been answered. Ahead of WandaVision‘s debut, the series has officially been rated TV-PG. According to the official ratings system, this means “Parental Guidance Suggested,” much like it does with movies. For comparison’s sake, The Mandalorian on Disney+ is rated TV-14, which is closer to the film rating of PG-13.

Every MCU film (and the Marvel movies outside of the MCU) are rated PG-13. This seems to indicate WandaVision is, in terms of its content, less intense than the movies that exist around it. In a way, this feels fitting. Much of WandaVision will be structured like a sitcom, with the early episodes in particular paying homage to those from the 1950s and onward. The sitcoms that WandaVision will be emulating are wholesome, with little controversial or violent content. Therefore, it would make sense to have WandaVision be a bit more family-friendly.

This also leaves the question of whether the other Marvel Disney+ shows will follow in WandaVision‘s footsteps. This doesn’t seem incredibly likely, seeing as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki look to be a bit darker. Of course, time will tell if that ends up being true. For the time being, the focus is entirely on WandaVision, and with nine weeks of content ahead, there will surely be a lot to discuss. The wait is almost over, and then all questions will be answered.

WandaVision will premiere on January 15 on Disney+.
