WandaVision’s Paul Bettany is back with another behind-the-scenes photo of himself as Vision. Bettany has been an MCU mainstay since 2008’s Iron Man, initially voicing Tony Stark’s A.I. assistant Jarvis. However, it’s Bettany’s portrayal of the synthezoid Vision that really captured the hearts of Marvel fans. Vision’s star-crossed relationship with Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) was the focus of WandaVision. The series was recently nominated for 23 Emmy awards, a Marvel first. Wanda and Vision’s relationship has a basis in Marvel comics, but the translation of their love to the big screen simply could not have worked without Bettany’s take on Vision.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Bettany added a layer of humanity to what could’ve easily been a soulless synthezoid. This was never more evident than Vision’s famous line about grief in episode 8, “Previously On,” where he strove to understand Wanda’s grief even though he had never experienced loss himself. Vision’s love for Wanda persisted even in Westview, but that didn’t stop him from questioning her motives about what exactly was going on in the town. Ironically, once Vision started to rebel against Wanda’s fantasy, his growing sense of free will ended up being directly constricted by his own classic comic book costume. He even grudgingly tells Wanda that it was the “only thing in his closet” after she compliments him on his look in episode 6, “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!”

Bettany shared a behind-the-scenes picture of himself in Vision’s classic costume on his Instagram page. The actor has been sharing a plethora of excellent WandaVision content on his Instagram ever since the show ended. Check out Bettany as classic Vision below, complete with a detachable mind stone.

Although WandaVision ended back in March, there’s still plenty of love for the show from fans. It’s great and fun to see all the behind-the-scenes Vision photos from Bettany. While the premise of Wanda and Vision wearing their classic comic book costumes in episode 6 was a battle of wills between the couple in-universe, in terms of pure fan service it was perfect. It’s highly unlikely fans will ever see Wanda and Vision don those costumes again in the MCU, but what would be even more worth seeing than another costume callback is a reunion between the Scarlet Witch and White Vision.

Bettany himself has said that he still hopes to return as Vision in the MCU. While nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet, it’s incredibly difficult to imagine Bettany never reprising his role as Vision. His relationship with Wanda before and during WandaVision was a beautiful thing to behold. It would simply be a waste of storytelling potential not to have him reunite with Wanda once again as White Vision. In the interim, hopefully Bettany will continue posting more behind-the-scenes Vision pictures for the enjoyment of Marvel fans.
