Wandavision star Paul Bettany has been cast in Miramax’s new lockdown-themed dramedy Harvest Moon. Bettany is best known for portraying the android superhero Vision in various MCU projects; however, he has also starred in supporting roles in several critically acclaimed films, including A Beautiful Mind and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Coming off of the back of an Emmy nominated performance in season 1 of Wandavision, Bettany’s newest project will see him star in a script he co-writes alongside American filmmaker Dana Brown.

Deadline reports that Bettany will star in Harvest Moon alongside Carmen Ejogo, Cary Elwes, Candice Bergen, Riley Looc, Malia Baker, and Rodney Richardson. Mark Waters, director of Netflix’s 2021 film He’s All That, has also been brought on board to direct. Speaking about the project, Bettany expressed how excited he was to begin filming:

“The fact that it has come together so quickly is enormously gratifying and also hilarious. Dana and I wrote it to keep ourselves sane during lockdown and now we’re off to shoot with an incredible creative team led by Mark Waters. It’s all a bit of a dream. I’m very excited.”

The film focuses on a young boy who sees an opportunity to reunite his estranged parents amid the pandemic. Producer Bill Block described Harvest Moon as “heartwarming,” as well as emphasizing just how “thrilled” he was to be working with Bettany. While the film has no definite release date at present, Bettany has a host of other movies set to be released soon, including the next Mission: Impossible, Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre, and one of Netflix’s many 2021 Christmas offerings, A Castle for Christmas.
