Warning! Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters

Marvel’s Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters has begun, seeing Boba Fett losing Han Solo trapped in carbonite after the events of Empire Strikes Back. As a result, the entire galaxy is in an uproar trying to claim the infamous and now extremely valuable smuggler for themselves (for a variety of different reasons). While the crossover event is only a few issues in, there have already been quite a few major reveals as Boba Fett prepares to get his bounty back from those who stole Solo from him. Here’s when the event takes place, the main characters involved, and the major reveals that have already happened in War of the Bounty Hunters.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

War of the Bounty Hunters takes place shortly after the events of Empire Strikes Back but before Return of the Jedi. While a personal vendetta took Boba Fett’s attention away from directly heading straight Tatooine to deliver Solo to Jabba the Hutt and collect his bounty, he also encountered problems when the carbonite encasing Solo lost its stability, threatening to kill Solo (who Fett needed alive). While the legendary bounty hunter managed to get Solo stabilized, it did create the opportunity for Solo to be stolen, leading to Boba Fett needing to hunt down his bounty once more.

However, those responsible for stealing Han Solo are revealed to be none other than a reborn Crimson Dawn, the criminal syndicate that was the creation of Maul, the former apprentice of Darth Sidious. However, Maul has already been slain by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the events prior to A New Hope. Instead, the major reveal at the end of War of the Bounty Hunters #1 was that the Dawn is now being lead by Lady Qi’ra, Han Solo’s first love who was last seen working for Maul at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, played by actress Emilia Clarke. By using Solo, Qi’ra hopes to legitimize her organizations’ return to the galaxy. As such, a lot of heads have turned, hoping to claim the smuggler for themselves (and not just the classic bounty hunters seen in Empire Strikes Back).

While a selection of Fett’s fellow hunters such as Bossk, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, and IG-88 have already been featured in the event across the various Star Wars titles involved, they aren’t the only ones after Solo. Naturally, Princess Leia and the Rebel Alliance see an opportunity to save their friend, while the cyborg Beilert Valance wants to save Solo as well, looking to pay back old debts and working with the hunter known as Dengar. Furthermore, Aphra and Sana Starros have been invited to Crimson Dawn’s auction for Solo, while Darth Vader himself is looking to claim the smuggler as well, wanting to use him as bait to lure his son Luke Skywalker.

Clearly, Boba Fett has some major competition ahead of him if he wants to get his bounty back, and it’s only going to be that much harder now that Jabba’s impatience has resulted in a bounty being put on Boba’s own head. All that being said, Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters has only just begun, and the event will be continuing across all of Marvel’s current Star Wars titles (aside from The High Republic) until October. While fans may think they know how the event will end (Solo in Jabba’s Palace), there’s certainly room for some major reveals and twists in the interim before that happens, and it’s likely that Star Wars fans won’t want to miss a single issue.
