Fans of HBO Max’s Warrior have begun a new campaign to get the hit martial arts action drama renewed for season 4 before the release of season 3. The campaign comes on the heels of Warrior‘s season 3 renewal by HBO Max after two years at Cinemax. The ensemble roster for the series includes Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Joe Taslim, and more.

Based on an original concept and treatment from Bruce Lee and run by Banshee‘s Jonathan Tropper, Warrior is set during the Tong Wars in late 1870s San Francisco. The story centers on Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China in search of his sister, but winds up being sold to a tong in Chinatown. Warrior‘s move to HBO Max for season 3 is due to Cinemax no longer commissioning original programming.

The grassroots movement asking for Warrior season 4 has taken an advertisement out in Variety urging WB and HBO Max to confirm plans for the series to continue past season 3 and to support the hashtag #StopAsianHate in order to combat the recent spikes of racism and prejudice against the Asian community in America. The movement first began in February as the series lingered in limbo of whether it would receive a season 3 renewal. Fans flooded social media with various hashtags, including #SaveWarrior, all culminating in the advertisement, addressed to WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar. It praises the decision to renew Warrior and asks that the studio continue to take the steps to help create change in Hollywood. The advertisement, via wutangkillerbee, can be viewed below.

Ever since its debut in April 2019, Warrior has been a real hit for WarnerMedia, earning generally positive responses from critics but scoring rave reviews from audiences across both seasons. As the months rolled along and no word came about a season 3 renewal, some cast and fans began to lose their hope until the show arrived on HBO Max in January. Thanks to a push from HBO and HBO Max’s Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys and Warrior becoming one of the top 15 viewed series on the streaming platform, the season 3 renewal finally came about in mid-April.

With the movement having good social intentions and the streamer previously having listened to fans’ campaign for the Snyder Cut, it’s certainly possible HBO Max listens to fans’ calls for a season 4 renewal ahead of Warrior‘s return. Plus with WarnerMedia looking to ensure subscription numbers remain solid for the streamer as movies return to exclusive theatrical releases next year, it would make sense to keep the hit series rolling to keep viewers around and satisfied. For the time being, audiences can catch up and revisit the first two seasons of Warrior on HBO Max now.
