The notoriously overpowered Skyov pistol from Call of Duty: Warzone is officially being nerfed just a few days after it was introduced to the game. Still, it’s strange that the gun wasn’t adjusted ahead of its anticipated release as not only did it leak in advance, but it could also be unlocked in-game before it officially launched.

The Sykov pistol originally leaked a week prior to its introduction to Warzone. It was rumored to be a part of the Sparks Operator Bundle, which was expected to release on April 15. The gun indeed landed on that exact day, and in no time, it proved to be the next in a long tradition of ridiculously overpowered weapons in the game. It was also possible to unlock the weapon before it was released, giving the developers even more time to learn of its overpowered condition.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

As promised in a previous post by Raven Software on social media, the studio is hitting the notorious Sykov pistol with massive nerfs just a few days after adding it to Warzone. That’s according to a new announcement on Twitter, which clarifies some of the changes for the overpowered handgun. When equipped with the Sorokin 140mm Auto attachment, Sykov gets its hip-fire bullet spread significantly increased. With the potent 80 Round Drums, the automatic sidearm receives two effective nerfs, which reduce players’ movement speed by 5%, and by an additional 2% when aiming down sights. Interestingly, when both the aforementioned attachments are used in a Sykov’s loadout, the pistol’s damage is reduced by a whopping 25%. Additionally, in a dual-wielding Akimbo configuration, the handgun results in a 5% movement speed reduction for its bearer.

Other changes include removal of the RC-XD from buy stations, leaving it exclusively available at Containment Monitors. The infamous sniper glint glitch also got fixed after it was reported a couple of weeks ago, as well as the weird Bullseye Reticle bug, which initially resulted in heavy framerate drops. The absent glint on certain sniper scopes was probably one of the most annoying bugs as it basically allowed players to abuse long-range engagements while staying completely undetected by their opponents.

Hopefully, the introduced balance changes will be enough to deprive the Sykov pistol of its reputation as a broken weapon in Warzone. Luckily, the sidearm got fixed in just a few days – unlike many other notorious guns in the game that had been bugging the community for months before eventually getting nerfed. Raven’s sudden activity in the field of improving the Warzone experience might actually indicate that the studio is devoted to satisfying the community ahead of the imminent release of Season 3.
