A Call of Duty: Warzone player recently got more than they bargained for when they were punished for showboating while wearing the CoD Donnie Darko skin. Released in 2001, Donnie Darko is a cult classic science fiction psychological thriller that stars Jake Gyllenhaal as the titular character who befriends Frank, a nightmarish figure wearing a rabbit costume.

With the recent release of Activision’s Call of Duty: Vanguard, the company has begun plans to integrate the game with its free-to-play battle royale shooter Call of Duty: Warzone. The integration of the two games is expected to occur next month on December 2, which will also mark the beginning of Vanguard’s Season One. As part of the launch, players can expect a plethora of new changes to come to Warzone, including the introduction of a kernel-level Anti-Cheat software dubbed RICOCHET, built to specifically target hackers that have been a constant source of problems for the battle royale.

Reddit user DevvyREDDIT shared a clip of their recent encounter in Warzone, where they were immediately punished for attempting to execute a downed player. Dressed up as Frank the Rabbit from Donnie Darko, the Redditor engaged in a close-range shootout with an enemy player on Rebirth Island. DevvyREDDIT managed to get the upper hand, downing their opponent before attempting to finish the fight by using an execution on their enemy. Unfortunately for the Redditor, they were immediately punished for their showboating behaviour, as Frank the Rabbit’s execution animation walked their operator off the edge of the platform and into the deadly waters below, killing them instantly.

The Donnie Darko operator skin bundle was available for a limited time, along with The Ghost Face skin from the film SCREAM, as part of Warzone’s Halloween The Haunting Event. A special finishing move that references the film is included in the bundle, and in the case of Frank the Rabbit, the operator will step out of the way before a jet engine would crash down on their opponent. Redditors were mostly unsympathetic to Devvy’s watery demise, with many commenting that their punishment was fair for being bad-mannered in their attempt to execute a downed player. Others added that the Redditor’s death could have been easily avoided if they had just double-checked where they were standing before attempting their finishing move.

Although unintended, Frank the Rabbit certainly gave DevvyREDDIT a swift punishment for what many players would consider questionable behavior. There will undoubtedly be even more unique ways to die with the upcoming release of Warzone’s Pacific Caldera map, which will also bring changes to Rebirth Island.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
