A wacky Call of Duty: Warzone live-action trailer starring Jack Harlow, Young Thug, and many more celebrities has been released to promote the all-new Season Three, which brings the biggest changes to the battle royale to date. The new trailer even gives some brief glimpses at the new 1984 revamp of Verdansk.

The new Warzone update follows a nuclear extinction event that wiped Verdansk off of the map (sort of). The event was rumored for several months, but it has finally come to fruition. The idea of the nuke event was to basically round off the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare side of Warzone and usher in the Black Ops Cold War era for Activision’s popular free-to-play title. Although the gameplay will seemingly remain the same, the map is getting a new coat of paint and new locations. After many rumors and leaks, Activision is finally ready to lift the curtain on the new map.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Call of Duty: Warzone‘s new trailer, which can be watched on the Call of Duty YouTube channel, features a bunch of celebrities fighting in the new version of Verdansk, giving a general idea of the different layout of the map. The Warzone ad leaked nearly a month ago, showcasing a scene between rapper Jack Harlow and comedian Druski, although the visual effects were extremely unfinished at the time. In the full trailer, other celebrity personalities are also featured, including appearances by music artists Young Thug, Saweetie, Swae Lee, Gunna, and AJ Tracey and athletes Dennis Schroder, Jack Grealish, and Michelle Viscusi. In a press release, Jack Harlow expressed his love for the franchise and excitement for being able to be part of Call of Duty in some way, remarking:

“I gotta say the best part of all this was sharing the whole experience with my best friend & roommate, Urban, who was on set and got to be there for the entirety of the shoot. He is a COD fanatic. It was also a really dope moment for my boys back home to see me in a COD film because they’ve all been playing COD for years.”

To top of the Season Three festivities, Warzone just hit 100 million unique players just over a year after launching, which is quite the feat for any live-service game. The Call of Duty battle royale seems to have scratched an itch for franchise and genre fans, as it combines an open-world, tactical experience with arcadey gunplay and over-the-top equipment and scenarios. Even though it wasn’t the franchise’s first attempt at battle royale gameplay (that honor goes to the multiplayer-only Call of Duty: Black Ops 4), Warzone has managed to capture lightning in a bottle on a scale comparable only to Fortnite and PUBG.

Activision has been clear about continuing to support Call of Duty: Warzone for years to come and this more or less begins to lay the foundation for what that could look like. It would seem that Activision will probably try to tie whatever the current game in the series is in with Warzone, which could pose for some interesting and innovative changes for the heavily rumored WWII entry later this year.
