Welcome To Plathville: Moriah Plath’s New Song Fuels Breakup Rumors

Welcome to Plathville star Moriah Plath is fueling rumors that she and Max Kallschmidt have broken up with her new song. Fans have been speculating that the couple ended things based on clues from Moriah’s social media. She posted a black and white photo of herself holding her guitar with a caption about not apologizing for being herself. Some fans thought this could be in reference to Max wanting her to dress more modestly when that’s not her style. Moriah has also been missing from Max’s Instagram account lately, including his 21st birthday post. The singer and TLC star recently moved to Tampa, Florida with her older siblings. All of this seems to point to Moriah being single.

Even though nothing has been confirmed, some fans think Max and Moriah shouldn’t be together. Aside from Max telling Moriah how to dress, they also grew up in two very different environments. Moriah’s family sheltered her from the real world, so she’s experiencing things for the first time that are commonplace for everyone else. Fans have already seen how Moriah’s older brother Ethan Plath and his wife, Olivia Plath, have struggled due to their opposite upbringings. Moriah is also very independent, and Max telling her to show less skin with her clothes seemed to hurt her. She wants to be completely herself and that includes dressing the way she likes. All of these reasons have led some fans to believe Max and Moriah are better off broken up.

Moriah released a new song on Saturday and some of the lyrics might point to her break-up with Max. “Like heavy chains pulling me / I let you get the best of me / But that won’t mean / You can control who I’ll be,” Moriah sings in “Missed Myself” (via Us Weekly). The message of the song seems to be about Moriah being her true self no matter what other people think of her, which fits her independent personality. This could also be about breaking free of her parents’ controlling household. Other lyrics reference going to therapy and “moving on.” Max posted an Instagram story supporting Moriah, so if they are broken up, it seems like they’re still on good terms. “Go check it out! Congrats @Moriah.Jasper,” Max wrote.

Moriah also posted on Instagram a week before her song dropped. In the caption, she stresses that the most important thing is to be yourself and that you don’t have to change for anyone. “You were made this way for a reason! You have a purpose! You are you, and that will be good enough for the ones who are meant to be in your life!” Moriah wrote. Moriah’s caption is accompanied by a photo of her standing in the water in a black dress, which was taken by her sister-in-law, Olivia. Olivia also commented her support under Moriah’s post, as did Moriah’s sister, Lydia Plath. Lydia recently joined Instagram and already featured Moriah on her page.

Both Moriah and Max are very young, so it wouldn’t be too shocking if they’re no longer together. Moriah seems to be a free spirit and values her independence over a lot of things. Max telling her to dress a certain way could have been a red flag for her. Whether or not they’re still together, more will probably be revealed through the Welcome to Plathville star’s burgeoning music career.
