Fans of Welcome to Plathville have gotten to know the Plath family through three seasons, and it’s time to share some lesser-known facts about the popular series. Kim and Barry Plath raised their nine children without any outside influences, on a large farm in rural Georgia. There have been a lot of struggles in the reality TV family. Several of the older kids have decided to embrace new lives away from their parents’ strict rules while maintaining bonds with their younger siblings.

Welcome to Plathville introduced nine Plath kids, and each one has a distinct personality. For example, oldest child Ethan Plath was the golden child until he married someone Kim and Barry disapproved of. Moriah Plath is the second-oldest daughter and the most rebellious Plath child. Her younger sister Lydia Plath seems to be the most obedient of the kids. The eldest daughter Hosanna Plath is not on Welcome toPlathville. That’s because she was already married (and had moved across the country) before the family started filming.

Family Secrets

Though the Plath family members are generally very open about their life, there are some secrets. For example, filming the show wasn’t Moriah’s first time in front of cameras. Also, Micah Plath was not the only Plath child interested in acting. Before Welcome to Plathville, Moriah had a part in a short film called You Should Be There. Fans may see art imitating life, as the story is about the strained relationship between a father and daughter.

A Dubious Credential

The Plath matriarch is a bit of a mystery on the show, but it was revealed that Kim refers to herself as a doctor. She is in fact a naturopathic doctor, meaning that she uses natural remedies like herbs to ease others’ pain. However, she cannot legally refer to herself as a doctor. Until recently, fan favorites Ethan and Olivia Plath were seen as the golden couple on the show. Some fans may not know that the pair started their relationship long-distance after they met at a camp. They have known each other for seven years. At the start, they were only allowed to write letters to one another.

Fame Seeking

The Plath family tried to get famous before Welcome to Plathville, as Kim and Barry coerced their kids into forming a Plath family band. They still have their The Plath Family YouTube channel, where they shared videos of the family singing gospel songs. Many fans commented that some of the kids didn’t really seem to enjoy being in the band. Kim also wrote and published her own parenting book, which many fans criticized, due to her unusual parenting style.

Possible Fake Drama

There is speculation that many of the iconic Welcome to Plathville scenes were exaggerated for the cameras or faked altogether. Olivia said that she felt forced to take part in the show. She also claimed that she had to play up any arguments for added drama. For a long time, viewers have wondered if Welcome to Plathville is fake, as Ethan allegedly drank Cokes and beers many times before being filmed for the show. Plenty of viewers also believe that Barry and Kim had a lot of control over the production of the show, and used that power to make Olivia look worse for the cameras.
