Releasing in November, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s trailers have shown off several returning characters, a few new ones, and even President Ronald Reagan. With those characters come voice actors, and although a few remain a mystery, fans have mostly figured out who’s who. The trailer for the newest entry in the long-running Call of Duty franchise features several new voice actors and a few character who have been completely recast.

The plot of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War concerns a Soviet spy named Perseus and the U.S.’s attempt to take him down during the backdrop of heightened Cold War tensions during the 1980’s. The game is a direct sequel to the original Black Ops, which means several returning characters appear, but there are also several new characters who are at the forefront of Cold War‘s plot.

While Ronald Reagan got a lot of the attention from people once the trailer dropped, the most prominent new character in the trailer is Russell Adler, a fictional CIA operative and Vietnam vet who’s chasing Perseus. Although the character looks like Robert Redford, Adler is actually voiced by Bruce Thomas, the UPS Guy in the Legally Blonde movies whose video game work includes playing Master Chief in Halo 5. Other new characters include Helen Park (voiced by Lily Cowles), Lazar Azoulay (voiced by Damon Dayoub), and Lawrence Sims (voiced by Reggie Watkins). The Soviet spy Perseus is voiced by Navid Negahban, who may be best known for playing Abu Nazir on Showtime’s critically-acclaimed Homeland.

Recast Voice Actors In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

So far, Ronald Reagan’s voice actor remains a mystery, although the 40th President’s voice sounds incredibly accurate. The returning characters shown in the trailer include Frank Woods, Alex Mason, and Jason Hudson. However, none of them are voiced by their original actors. It’s still a mystery who voices Frank Woods in Black Ops Cold War, although the character’s original voice actor was James C. Burns.

The same applies to Alex Mason and Jason Hudson. Mason was voiced by Sam Worthington and Hudson was voiced by Ed Harris in the original game, and neither voice their respective characters in the trailer. It’s odd that none of the big-name actors are back to voice their characters, but it remains unclear why all three roles were recast. For now, the voice actors for these three returning favorites remain a mystery.

Despite several recast roles, it seems like all the voice actors do a great job in the trailer. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warreleases on November 13th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It will release later this year for next-gen consoles Xbox Series X and PS5.
