Jorah’s allegiances truly change in “You Win Or Die,” when he saves the pregnant Khaleesi’s life from an assassination attempt. After receiving a royal pardon from Robert Baratheon, Jorah deduces that the monarch has taken the news of Daenerys’ pregnancy badly, ordering the deaths of mother and child.

The Khaleesi almost drinks poisoned wine while perusing the markets of Vaes Dothrak. Jorah arrives in time to save her before the would-be killer is apprehended by the Dothraki.

7 Jorah Supports Daenerys Through The Red Waste – “The North Remembers” S2.E1

Despite her triumphant hatching of the dragons, Daenerys falls on hard times during season 2. “The North Remembers” sees the Mother of Dragons wandering across the Red Waste in the wake of Drogo’s death, her khalasar’s chances of survival dwindling every day.

Daenerys and Jorah share another significant and tender moment during this episode. Jorah tells the Khaleesi that she must be her people’s strength; Daenerys replies that he is hers.

6 Jorah Lets His Feelings Slip – “The Ghost Of Harrenhal” S2.E5

Jorah struggles with his feelings for his queen throughout their stay in Qarth. In “The Ghost Of Harrenhal,” Daenerys discovers that Robert Baratheon is dead, and hastens to plan her conquest of Westeros with Xaro Xhoan Daxos. Jorah councils her against allying with Xaro and accidentally lets some of his feelings slip.

Unfortunately, Jorah’s past comes back to haunt him in season 4’s “The Mountain Of The Viper.” News of Daenerys’ rise to power in Slaver’s Bay reaches King’s Landing. Tywin Lannister takes cautionary measures to destabilize her council by ensuring she discovers Jorah’s earlier betrayal, and Ser Barristan Selmy receives a copy of Jorah’s royal pardon from Robert Baratheon.

Daenerys banishes Jorah twice; the disgraced knight returns to Meereen with Tyrion Lannister in season 5’s “Hardhome,” only to be exiled from Meereen once more. But this doesn’t deter Jorah from returning again to save Daenerys’ life when the Sons of the Harpy attack.

The knight saves his queen from another direct assassination attempt during the revolt at Daznak’s Pit. Jorah continues to guard Daenerys against attackers until Drogon makes his long-awaited return to Meereen.

3 A Confession Of Love – “The Door” S6.E5

Jorah searches for Daenerys throughout season 6 and quickly deduces that she has been taken to Vaes Dothrak. He and Daario infiltrate the city to rescue her, only for the Targaryen queen to return to her unburnt roots and assume leadership of the Dothraki.

“The Door” sees Jorah finally confess his feelings to Daenerys as he reveals that he has greyscale. The Targaryen queen is distraught and tells the knight to find a cure before returning to her side.

2 Reunion On Dragonstone – “Eastwatch” S7.E5

Jorah stays true to his word, seeking a cure for his greyscale at the Citadel before reuniting with Daenerys in “Eastwatch.” The knight meets his queen again in Westeros and shares a heartfelt embrace with her on the cliffs of Dragonstone.

Unfortunately, Dany and Jorah’s reunion is cut short by a chilling warning from Bran about the White Walkers. Jorah promptly volunteers to capture a wight to show Cersei and departs from Dragonstone with Jon Snow.

1 Jorah Dies For His Queen – “The Long Night” S8.E3

Jorah’s arc comes full circle in season 8’s “The Long Night,” when his character perishes during the final battle against the dead. Jorah leads the Dothraki in the defense of Winterfell, before saving Daenerys from wights when the young queen falls from her dragon.

Daenerys and Jorah fight against the Army of the Dead together. The knight gives his life to save his queen, before dying in her arms in one of the show’s most gut-wrenching scenes.

The pair shared a rocky relationship filled with heartbreak and betrayal throughout Game Of Thrones. Their characters came together one last time in the final season for a tragic, poignant conclusion to their journey.
