Brian Baumgartner played Kevin Malone for all nine seasons of NBC’s hit sitcom, The Office. Kevin served as an accountant at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, but he was often shown as the weakest link in his department, which also included Angela Martin and Oscar Martinez. Kevin’s career took a hit in The Office‘s final season but it gave him an opportunity to find his true calling.

Kevin originally applied for a warehouse position at Dunder Mifflin, but Michael Scott had a feeling about him so he ended up in the accounting department. The character was harmless but had a habit of making blunt and offensive jokes to his coworkers. Kevin was known for having questionable internet habits and was always worried about email surveillance. The series even hinted that Kevin was guilty of insider trading. Outside of the workplace, Kevin played in a tribute band to The Police, called “Scrantonicity.” He also had an interesting in cooking, as shown with his famous chili. In addition, Kevin enjoyed gambling and was always initiated bets with his coworkers.

During The Office series finale two-parter, the timeline jumped forward a year. The episode took time to fill in viewers about the important events that occurred over that time. Dwight Schrute, the latest manager at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, fired Kevin for his poor job performance and for “cooking the books.” It was revealed that Kevin made up a number called “Keleven” to hide his mathematical mistakes. Following his time at the paper company, Kevin became the owner of a bar. During Dwight’s bachelor party, Jim Halpert took the group to Kevin’s bar and forced the men to make amends. They did so and Kevin later attended Dwight and Angela’s wedding where he reunited with all of his old coworkers.

How Kevin Became The Owner Of The Bar On The Office

Kevin’s bartending skills were on display a number of times during The Office, so it might not be a complete surprise that he became the owner of a bar. The explanation of how he became a bar owner was unveiled in a deleted scene from the finale episode. Kevin shared that many people bought him drinks after the documentary aired. He was a light drinker, so the bar held thousands of dollars in credit. Rather than use it on drinks, the bar offered Kevin a large share and he became the owner. He claimed that the bar had doubled its business since he became the owner, due to the documentary’s popularity.

Kevin never had much luck when it came to dating and it was never revealed if he found a woman to settle down with. Becoming a bar owner seemed to be a refreshing change for Kevin as he finally found something that he was truly good at. As part of NBC’s “Where Are They Now” slideshow for characters from The Office, Kevin was listed for his accomplishment in becoming the Grand Marshal at the Scranton St. Patrick’s Day Parade, three years running.
