This article contains spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett episode 6.

The Book of Boba Fett has given viewers their first real look at the planet where Luke Skywalker established his Jedi Temple – but the show is being careful to avoid naming the world. When Master Yoda passed away in Return of the Jedi, he charged Luke Skywalker to pass on what he had learned. It was a charge Luke took seriously, and he swiftly began training his sister Leia in the ways of the Force, although she chose to abandon her training when she received visions of her son’s death if she continued down this path. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed that training was conducted on the jungle planet Ajan Kloss, a world whose existence had been kept secret by the Alderaanian royal family.

Luke subsequently established his own Jedi Temple, where he would train Leia’s son Ben Solo and many other Padawans. Precious little has yet been revealed about that Jedi Temple, with the sequel trilogy simply showing visions of it burning. Luke’s attempt to restore the Jedi was disrupted by Palpatine, who manipulated Luke into dueling his nephew and took advantage of the chaos to destroy the Jedi temple in a Force Storm. But The Book of Boba Fett episode 6, set long before these events, finally gives viewers a real look at the new Jedi planet, although it’s still unnamed.

Luke Skywalker seems to have chosen to base the Jedi on an uninhabited forest world. Viewed from space, it’s actually remarkably similar to Ajan Kloss, but the vegetation and landforms look very different; besides which, if Kylo Ren had trained under Luke on Ajan Kloss he’d have been able to recognize the planet when he experienced visions of it through his Force Dyad with Rey. It’s likely this unknown planet is a vergence in Star Wars‘ Force, presumably because, like Dagobah, it contains so much life that the Living Force is particularly strong there. Luke may well have discovered it while researching similar planets rich in the Force during his training when he reviewed ancient Jedi Holocrons from the High Republic Era for knowledge.

Lucasfilm’s decision not to name this planet is certainly intriguing. It may well mean this is a planet audiences have heard of before, whether in canon or Star Wars Legends, and they are carefully avoiding revealing that fact until the right moment. Alternatively, it may also mean Luke has settled the Jedi on a world that has never been named at all, establishing the Jedi Temple on a planet that he discovered through the Force power known as Wayfinding. Din Djarin seems to have found his way to the Jedi Temple because he had a tracking fob keyed to Grogu’s life signs, and it’s likely he never knew the planet’s name in the first place.

Whatever the answer to this mystery may be, it is sure to be revealed in time. The Book of Boba Fett revealed Ahsoka Tano has already met Luke Skywalker and has passed on information about Luke’s father. It’s reasonable to assume the relationship between Luke and Ahsoka will be explored in the Ahsoka Disney+ TV show, and that would probably involve revisiting the Jedi Temple. The Book of Boba Fett has given a first proper look at the Jedi Temple under construction – but it is unlikely to be the last glimpse.
