Rocket Raccoon, a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, would make for a terrifying villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rocket was last seen on the Bentaur ship at the end of Avengers: Endgame, where Thor was brought aboard to join the Guardians. Rocket, who survived the blip, played a critical part in defeating Thanos and sabotaging the Mad Titan’s plan. His most impactful contribution, with help from Thor, was the retrieval of the Reality Stone from 2013 Asgard. However, with an alternative characterization, his and the Guardians’ stories could have been very different.

Rocket, originally known as 89P13, comes from the planet of Halfworld. He was taken from his family at a young age, and forced to undergo brutal genetic and cybernetic enhancements. Years of abuse forced Rocket into developing an abrasive, or “explosive” personality, leading to his pseudonym. Rocket, before his life as a hero, picked up mercenary work where he honed his weaponry skills. Additionally, Rocket’s past could have a connection to Adam Warlock.

Due to his tragic backstory and chaotic demeanor, it isn’t a stretch to think that Rocket could have gone down a very different path. If Rocket hadn’t sided with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and instead fell in with the likes of Thanos or Ego, he could have caused major problems for the heroes of the MCU. Rocket has expert ability with weapons, advanced intelligence, combat skills, enhanced traits, and a bold disposition. As a result, he would make for an absolutely devastating supervillain.

Rocket has demonstrated on multiple occasions his ability to both verbally and combatively outwit his opponents. He is one of the smartest characters in the MCU, and if used for evil, he could be especially dangerous. On the battlefield, he uses his knowledge of gadgets to defeat opponents. In diplomacy, he is sharp and convincing (even when rude), demonstrated by Rocket’s ability to convince Thor to join the time heist. His ability to manipulate would be detrimental if he had malicious intentions.

Rocket’s most powerful asset is his weaponry expertise. While he is a trained martial artist, he prefers to strike from afar. An expert marksman, Rocket is well-versed in almost every kind of killing instrument. Like the MacGyver of the MCU, Rocket is deadly even with what could seem like harmless materials. Additionally, his piloting ability has saved the Guardians from trouble regularly. The set of skills Rocket possesses, along with his aggressive behavior, would come in handy to any villainous team.

It’s a good thing that Rocket is a hero in the MCU, because he would be tough to take down as a villain. While he is a flawed hero, with Rocket even taking some blame for the events of Infinity War, his intentions have been (mostly) pure so far. Rocket is loyal to his adoptive family, and seems willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Hopefully it stays that way, because Rocket Racoon could cause some serious turmoil for the Marvel Cinematic Universe if he ever wanted to switch sides.
