Raimi’s 50 States of Fright conjures a lot of the energy from the director’s earlier years as well as operates as a showcase for newer names in the horror genre who could perhaps go on to become the next Raimi.

Many audiences have been skeptical of Quibi’s bite-sized approach to content, but some of the programming for the streaming service has come up with ideas that take advantage of this concept. 50 States of Fright wisely tells shorter stories that carry that campfire atmosphere and actually benefit from the time restrictions. This in combination with its approach to anthology horror storytelling makes the show feel much more nature than a movie that’s been split up into pieces. 50 States of Fright season 1 had a very promising start, but with only five states represented, fans have been wondering if there will be more.

Quibi hasn’t tried to keep any secrets when it comes to 50 States of Fright season 2; they’ve revealed that it’s set to premiere on September 28, 2020, with new episodes hitting every weekday until October 7th. This release strategy is consistent with what Quibi did for Season 1 of 50 States of Fright, which keeps the energy of classical serialized horror storytelling alive. Regardless of exactly how Quibi releases these episodes, it seems like audiences will have several new states and freaky stories to dig into by the time Halloween 2020 arrives.

Each episode of 50 States of Fright season 2 has some serious talent. The upcoming episodes star names familiar to the horror genre like Taissa Farmiga, Rory Culkin, Christina Ricci, and Ron Livingston all serving as headliners. Additionally, there are some equally impressive names that are directing. like Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the writers behind the tense, A Quiet Place and Lee Cronin, the director for the newest Evil Dead entry, Evil Dead Rise.

50 States Of Fright Season 2 Story Details

50 States of Fright season 1 looked at five different states, split up into 14 different installments. Season 2 is set to look at Iowa, Washington, Colorado, and Missouri. It appears that these four states will be divided into two and three segments apiece, which means that 50 States of Fright season 2 will consist of ten episodes. That’s a nice dig into more of these 50 states, even though the exact subject matter of these state-based horror stories is unclear.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Sam Raimi is helming any of the episodes like he did in 50 States of Fright season 1. In many ways, it’s even more exciting to see what some of these rising talents will be capable of in this context, especially Lee Cronin and Daniel Goldhaber (Netflix’s surprise hit, Cam). With the level of talent that’s been assembled for both in front of and behind the camera, it seems like 50 States of Frightseason 2 will be even better than the first.
