What To Expect From Barry Season 3

After years of pandemic-related delays, Barry season 3 is set to release – here’s when it will premiere on HBO. Created by former Seinfeld writer Alec Berg and Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader, the dark comedy follows a conflicted hitman-turned-actor. Barry stars Hader as the titular character Barry and Henry Winkler as Gene Cousineau, the director of the theater acting class Barry joins.

Looking ahead beyond Barry season 3, it’s likely a season 4 will be ordered before the new episodes finish airing.

Nearly 3 years after season 2 aired, Barry season 3 has a release date: April 24, 2022. Previous seasons of Barry premiered in late March, and, despite coronavirus delays, Barry‘s third season seems to be following the same spring release 3 years later. Like other seasons, Barry season 3 will be eight episodes in total and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Barry Season 3: New & Returning Characters

Barry season 3’s cast will feature the return of many of the main players, including Hader’s Barry, Winkler’s Gene, Sally (Sarah Goldberg), NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan), and Monroe Fuches (Stephen Root). The new season will likely also bring back supporting characters like Kirby Howell-Baptiste’s Sasha and D’Arcy Carden’s Natalie, actors in Gene’s theater class. No new casting announcements have been made since the original release announcement, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be new faces for Barry to contend with.

Barry Season 3: Story Details

Barry season 2 unsurprisingly ends with copious amounts of violence and unresolved character drama. As an actor, Barry has made significant progress, especially in his on-stage performances with Sally. As a hitman, Barry becomes even more unhinged due to his memories of serving as a Marine. This results in mob violence that now threatens the safety of his friends and his pursuit of a new, peaceful chapter in his life. The conclusion of Barry season 2 suggests that Gene will have some difficult decisions to make in season 3, especially in regards to his mentorship of Barry. Season 3 of the hit HBO show will likely also address the fallout of Barry’s most recent rampage and delve deeper into his penchant for violence. Now that Hader has more than proven himself behind the camera for HBO, Barry season 3 may have a bigger budget, and will certainly challenge curious viewers who are tuning in for the first time.
