What To Expect From Trinkets Season 3

Will Trinkets season 3 ever happen, and if so, when will it be released by Neflix? Based on Kirsten Smith’s 2013 novel of the same name, Trinkets debuted on the streaming service in 2019. The platform officially ordered a 10-episode season 1 in 2018, which received generally positive reviews. Because of this, Netflix greenlit a second season a month after Trinkets landed.

Set in Portland, Trinkets is about three girls who formed an unlikely friendship after meeting at a Shoplifters Anonymous session. At this point, Elodie (Brianna Hilderbrand), Moe (Kiana Madeira), and Tabitha (Quintessa Swindell) were going through different personal dilemmas. After a string of coincidental meet-ups, the trio decided to stick with each other, resulting in developing a genuine bond.

The end of season 1 saw Elodie run away with rocker chic, Sabine (Katrina Cunningham), with the help of her friends, but this didn’t last long as Trinkets season 2 picked up just a few days since they went their separate ways. The show’s newest 10 episodes saw the girls band back together, admit to their faults and finally come to terms about their true individual selves. But for those who want to know what the future lies for the girls, here’s what to expect from a potential Trinkets season 3.

Trinkets Season 2 Was The End

Trinkets season 1 was generally well-received; the show was able able to use its source material in a way that appealed to those who hadn’t read the book. Elodie, Moe, and Tabitha were good as a team, but each character was also developed separately, making them individually compelling. Aside from its good reviews, season 1 also ended on something of a cliffhanger, with a string of plot points still unanswered. Given all this, it made sense that Netflix ordered a second year. That said, instead of expectedly stretching out the material and segmenting the story to a couple of more seasons to be able to fully delve into the characters, the streaming giant announced that Trinkets season 2 will also be its last. This is disappointing considering Trinkets‘ unique premise that also tackles serious teenage struggles. That said, the additional 10 episodes did give the writers the chance to wrap up the story in a satisfying way.

When Trinkets Season 3 Could Release If It Happened

Trinkets season 2 wrapped up with all three girls at a much better place than when the show started. Tabitha and Elodie have successfully overcome their penchant for shoplifting, while Moe has started to get her life back together after losing the Korea grant and breaking up with Noah (Odiseas Georgiadis). The trio has also come clean about stealing Miss Shaw’s (Larisa Oleynik) test that resulted in Chase (Nik Dodani) being wrongfully punished, and exposed Brady (Brandon Butler) for his abusive nature. Overall, it was a good ending. Netflix doesn’t have plans for a third season, but that could change.

If that ever happens and Trinkets season 3 becomes a reality, it might take a while to release — perhaps at least a couple of years from now. The coronavirus pandemic has slowed down movie and series production, and chances are that the company will be prioritizing their other confirmed projects than newly ordered ones.

What Trinkets Season 3’s Story Could Be About

While Trinkets season 2 gave a great conclusion to Elodie, Moe, and Tabitha’s story, there are a couple of lingering plot lines that a potential season 3 could focus on. That includes Elodie’s step-brother Spencer’s (Parker Hill) shoplifting tendencies as revealed at the tail end of season 1. Aside from revealing this, there was no mention whatsoever about what could be the next step in making sure that Spencer doesn’t go down the same path as Elodie.

There’s also the question about Ben’s (Andrew Jacobs) future in culinary school and his possible future relationship with Tabitha, not to mention Elodie’s budding career as a musician. Trinkets season 2 was also inconclusive on the status of Moe and Noah. As for the girls’ overall story, it would be great to see the aftermath of their final scheme, including what could happen to Brady.
