What To Expect From V Wars Season 2

The first season of V Wars, the sprawling vampire epic, hit Netflix in December 2019, but fans have already been hungry for details on when they can expect a season two.

Netflix is no stranger to genre programming, but V Wars adapts Jonathan Maberry’s popular graphic novel series of the same name, which puts an interesting spin on the vampire outbreak angle. V Wars looks at a world that becomes victim to massive vampire infestations due to the culmination of an ancient virus and climate change, of all things. As the vampire population continues to rise, sides are drawn and the world becomes split in a dangerous way. Scientists, most notably Ian Somerhalder’s Dr. Luther Swann, struggle to develop a cure for all of this while they struggle in different ways. Swann is caught up in a particularly difficult situation when his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), becomes a vampire and he experiences this global problem on a very personal level.

“Bloody but Unbow’d,” V Wars’ season one finale, pushes the series to ambitious places as it seemingly offs many major characters and puts the series’ main antagonist in league with the good guys before revealing an even larger betrayal. When the dust settles, the status quo between vampires and humans has never been more skewed. Blood Nation has more power than ever and a weathered Swann is ready for vengeance after his son’s been kidnapped. As the threat between human and vampires becomes more intense, it looks like the world is headed towards all-out war as V Wars’ first season approaches its end. V Wars Season 2 Renewal

Netflix hasn’t announced a renewal yet for the second season of V Wars, but there’s usually a healthy cushion of time provided before such announcements are made. V Wars is barely a month old and Netflix is still likely curious about the streaming numbers and audience retention that the show brings in. With how the streaming service has worked in the past, it would make sense for some sort of renewal news to come forward around February or March. That being said, interviews with actors have made reference to certain characters and plot points for a second season, so whether that’s just wishful thinking or not, it at least seems to be a positive indication that more episodes of V Wars are coming.

V Wars Season 2 Release Date Info

It’s unclear to say exactly when a second season of V Wars would hit, but if the team is already doing speculative work on a second season, then it could perhaps hit as early as December 2020, to match the holiday release of the first season. V Wars isn’t as effects heavy as other shows on Netflix, but it still does require a significant amount of post-production work. If December of 2020 isn’t reached, then early 2021 wouldn’t be out of the question for season two.

V Wars’ second season will no doubt see Dr. Luther Swann facing a stronger-than-ever Blood Nation to get back his son, but there may be an even stronger blueprint in place if the series continues to faithfully follow Maberry’s V Wars source material. The second V Wars comic anthology, Blood and Fire, looks at the shaky alliance between human and vampires coming to an end and vampires attacking more aggressively than ever before. With major characters meeting their end in the season one finale, it wouldn’t be surprising for V Wars’ second season to introduce some new characters. Somerhalder has also spoken in interviews about an exciting new father-and-daughter duo that enters the picture. All of these relationships will stretch and challenge the bond between humans and vampires as V Wars continues to tell its story.
