Ben and Erin Napier’s new Discovery+ show Home Town: Takeover is a spinoff from the original Home Town series, featuring the “Big Fish House” in the first two episodes. Home Town: Takeover is an HGTV series that follows married couple Ben and Erin Napier as they try to renovate an entire town. Ben and Erin have spent the last five years renovating their own hometown of Laurel, Mississippi for the series Home Town.

Home Town: Takeover takes Ben and Erin away from Laurel and into the town of Wetumpka, Alabama. Over the course of six episodes, the couple took on twelve renovation projects. These projects included homes of people doing a lot for the community, historical landmarks, and important businesses for the Wetumpka citizens. Ben and Erin didn’t renovate the entire town, but they chose places that could act as a starting point for Wetumpka’s rebirth.

The Big Fish House Is Actually Called The Collier House

On Home Town: Takeover, Ben, Erin, and the residents fondly referred to the home as the “Big Fish House.” However, according to Al, this property is actually called the Collier home. The white, Victorian-style home was built around 1940. However, Meaww traces the home all the way back to 1874. Furthermore, According to Realtor, the property has nearly 3,000 sq ft, three bedrooms, and one bathroom. It is a two-story building.

The Address Of The Home Is Public Knowledge

The “Big Fish House” has publicly released the address. If people want to see the home, it’s at 401 East Bridge Street, Wetumpka, AL. The home is on a hill near many of Wetumpka’s thriving businesses. However, it is a privately-owned residence, so no one should pop up uninvited or by doing their own Big Fish tour. The owners may welcome guests if they contact them before arriving.

The Home Owners Shellie and Wade Whitfield Knew Nothing About The Home Before Buying It

According to HGTV and Meaww, the family had no idea about the significance of the home until moving into it. Shellie, Wade, and their sons had no clue they would be thrown into the spotlight when they bought the home but rose to the challenge. Once they knew, they felt they had to save it. Shellie was an art teacher and Wade was a catastrophic insurance adjuster. Their lives were as far away from the world of Hollywood as possible, but with the help of Ben and Erin, they were able to restore their home and this Hollywood landmark.

The fans can watch the “Big Fish House” and other Wetumpka landmarks on Home Town: Takeover on HGTV and Discovery+.
