Batwoman season 3 is on hiatus for a while — here’s when the Arrowverse series returns after the Olympic Games. Season 3 kicked off in the fall of 2021, with The CW forgoing on its usual 22-episode order for its dramas. After Batwoman returned from its winter hiatus in January 2022, it went several consecutive weeks with new episodes, but it’s going on another, albeit short, break.

Batwoman season 3 has seen some big changes for Ryan Wilder. She met her birth mother, Jada Jet; half-brother Marquis turned out to be a villain; and she had to contend with her feelings for Sophie Moore. While Mary Hamilton is now free of Poison Ivy’s infection, Ryan is still trying to combat Marquis, who’s now like the villainous Joker to her Batwoman and is gearing up to wreak a lot of havoc on Gotham City. But before the superhero can get back into the action, Batwoman season 3 will go on a brief hiatus because of the Olympic Games. The 2022 Olympic Winter Games, held in Beijing, began on February 4 with an opening ceremony and will close on February 20.

During that time, Batwoman — along with Legends of Tomorrow, Superman & Lois, and new superhero series Naomi — will be off of the air for two weeks. Batwoman will return with season 3 episode 12 on Wednesday, February 23 at 9:00pm ET. Episode 12, titled “We’re All Mad Here,” will serve as the penultimate episode before the season 3 finale, which will air the following week on Wednesday, March 2. All things considered, a two-week hiatus isn’t a long time when compared to previous breaks the Arrowverse show has taken from the air and it’s headed into its break following a ratings high for season 3 episode 11, which saw series actor Camrus Johnson make his directorial television debut.

By the end of Batwoman season 3, the Arrowverse series will have aired 13 episodes. That’s five less episodes than it had in season 2, which consisted of 18 episodes in total. Less episodes also mean less downtime overall, which doesn’t affect the momentum of the season as much, either. Taking a break while the Olympic Winter Games air also builds anticipation for what comes next in the story. The final two episodes of Batwoman season 3 will see Ryan battling Marquis, who’s seemingly pretending to care about the way Gotham treats Arkham Asylum’s residents in a bid to break them out. Now that he’s got the Joker’s buzzer in hand, thanks to a fix by toymaker and former Joker ally Kiki Roulette (Judy Reyes), he’s more dangerous than ever. He also remains a continuing threat to Ryan and her friends considering he knows her identity as Batwoman.

Following the conclusion of Batwoman season 3 and Legends of Tomorrow season 7, The Flash will return to The CW with the remaining episodes of season 8. The latter show will be taking Legends of Tomorrow’s 8:00pm time slot on Wednesdays, switching to a new night for the first time since it began in 2014. If Batwoman is renewed for season 4, fans should expect the show to return to its Wednesday night time slot on The CW in the fall of 2022.
