Warning: This article contains spoilers for Superman & Lois season 2, episode 4.

Superman & Lois season 2 is taking a short break, leading some to wonder when it will be back. For many, the decision for the show to go on hiatus was a surprise, especially since the season has just begun. Superman & Lois season 2, which premiered on January 11, has only aired four episodes.

Although the Arrowverse series hasn’t been back for long, its story has already delivered some shocking twists and turns. After cleverly misleading viewers into thinking that Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) was on a collision course with Doomsday, the show revealed that an entirely different DC Comics villain – Bizarro – was the real threat. Apparently, he was the one causing the earthquakes and Clark’s strange visions. Superman & Lois season 2, episode 4, titled “The Inverse Method”, greatly escalated the conflict by having Bizarro murder two members of Anderson’s metahuman team. Another consequence of Superman’s fight with Bizarro was the severe injury suffered by John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks), who was left in critical condition at the end of the episode.

The Arrowverse’s Bizarro story will continue when Superman & Lois returns on February 22, where it will resume its normal timeslot at 8 PM EST. The CW confirmed Superman & Lois’ February 22 return date with a promo for its next episode, “Girl…You’ll Be A Woman Soon”, which will most likely pick up where the series left off by revealing Steel’s fate, explaining Kyle’s secret, and exploring the fallout of Anderson’s decision to handle the Bizarro problem without Superman’s help. There’s also the matter of Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik), who was seen contacting Ally Allston (Rya Kihlstedt), a character positioned to be the main villain of Lois’ season 2 story. The promo revealed that Anderson (Ian Bohen) finding out about Bizarro’s connection to Superman will also be a plot point.

Viewers will have to wait three weeks to see how all of these different plotlines unfold, presumably on account of the 2022 Winter Olympics, which are set to kick off on February 4 and last until February 20. It’s not unusual at all for networks like The CW to avoid airing new episodes of its normal programming during such huge events that could threaten their ratings. So while the Winter Olympics are taking place, The CW will instead air Superman & Lois re-runs.

Shortly after the Winter Olympics end, Superman & Lois season 2 will return on February 22 and hopefully provide some answers about Bizarro’s presence in the Arrowverse and what Ally is really planning in Smallville. Since the show has an unconfirmed episode count for season 2, it’s not clear how much story is left to be told. But since Superman & Lois season 2 won’t even air its fifth episode until as late as February 22, it’s possible that the show will finish its season without any further interruptions.
