A previously off-limits area, The Chasm, is finally becoming explorable in Genshin Impact during the 2.6 update. Genshin Impact’s 2.6 update is expected to arrive on March 30, 2022, keeping with miHoYo’s usual six-week schedule. The Chasm has been on Teyvat’s map since Genshin Impact started but has never before been explorable. Version 2.6 will also bring the long-awaited arrival of Genshin Impact‘s Kamisato Ayato, Ayaka’s older brother, and The Chasm will be home to new enemies, including a new Boss, the Ruin Serpent.

The Chasm is a quarry-like area, currently off-limits to Travelers in Genshin Impact. Bordering Liyue’s Lisha area, the Chasm was a mining area and the primary source of ore in Liyue. After a series of accidents, the Chasm was closed off and mining ceased. Version 2.6 will allow Genshin Impact players to access The Chasm for the first time, giving them the opportunity to explore the mysterious mining area after over a year of waiting. The Chasm is expected to be a deep underground area in Genshin Impact with unique flora and fauna, thanks to The Chasm’s unique geology.

According to Genshin Impact lore, Morax, the Geo Archon, fought Azhdaha in the Chasm, so it’s likely that Zhongli will somehow be involved in the storyline in Version 2.6. Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver, two of Liyue’s adepti, are also referenced in the Chasm’s lore. Genshin Impact fans will finally be able to explore the Chasm, learn about its history, and hopefully find out the truth behind the series of mysterious accidents that led to the Chasm being closed off entirely. It’s unknown yet where Genshin Impact‘s story will go, and whether the Chasm’s mines will be reopened, but players can look forward to discovering an abundance of mineable ore, including materials exclusively found in the Chasm.

Genshin Impact: When Is The Chasm Release Date

The Chasm has been described as a “trove of treasures” in Genshin Impact, so hopefully it will be home to plentiful ore for players to mine, including ore unique to the Chasm. A new material, Glazed Sand Crystal, has already been confirmed for the Chasm. Due to its treasures, Treasure Hoarders are often found near the Chasm, and foes will likely be found inside the Chasm too once it has been released. At the end of Genshin Impact’s 2.5 livestream, it was confirmed the Chasm would be home to a new Boss, the Ruin Serpent, an enormous Ruin machine that looks like a giant snake.

The Chasm will finally be explorable to Genshin Impact players from the game’s 2.6 update, which is expected to arrive on March 30, 2022. Players will be able to explore the surface of the Chasm, as well as the underground mines of the depths below. The Chasm will be home to new mineable materials, as well as the Ruin Serpent, a new Boss for players to battle. While the upcoming 2.5 update centers heavily on Inazuma, it looks like Genshin Impact‘s Version 2.6 will take players back to Liyue, at least for the Chasm’s storyline.
