Netflix’s The Witcher features Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia in the bathtub (twice), so here’s the episode and timestamp of each bathtub scene. Based on the novels of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher introduces and follows the adventures of Geralt, a human who has undergone mutations in order to be more adept at monster hunting. The Witcher also follows the powerful mage Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and young princess Ciri (Freya Allan). Lauren Schmidt Hissrich serves as showrunner on The Witcher, which has been renewed for season 2 already, set to arrive in 2021.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

While Netflix’s TV series may have just released, it’s not the first adaptation of Sapkowski’s work. Polish game developer CD Projekt Red has adapted The Witcher into three video games, most recently being 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Netflix’s show is based on the books, not the video games, but that hasn’t stopped Hissrich and the series’ directors from referencing certain aspects of CD Projekt Red’s titles. One of these references is Cavill’s Geralt in a bathtub as was first seen in The Witcher TV show trailer. Even before this particular Witcher scene was glimpsed in the full trailer, Hissrich made sure to tease a bathtub scene for fans hoping The Witcher III cutscene would be adapted into the TV show.

Now that The Witcher is out on Netflix, fans may be wondering when exactly they can see Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia in a bathtub. In fact, there are two bathtub scenes in The Witcher season 1. The first arrives in season 1, episode 4, “Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials” at the 5:09 timestamp; the second is in the following hour, episode 5, “Bottled Appetites” at the 31:15 mark.

Those are the only two bathtub scenes in season 1 of the Netflix fantasy series, but with The Witcher season 2 already confirmed, there’s plenty of opportunity for Hissrich and her creative team to include more bathtubs in the coming episodes. Certainly, the nudity of The Witcher may not appeal to some fans and potential viewers. There’s perhaps more female nudity in the show than male nudity, despite the number of times Cavill appears shirtless (which is a fair amount, thanks to these bathtub scenes). But that’s something that can be addressed – or continued – in The Witcher season 2

As for The Witcher’s bathtub scenes, they’re a direct reference to the video games, and a fun way to include a nod to CD Projekt Red’s titles while staying more true to Sapkowski’s novels. For those who have enjoyed season 1 of Netflix’s latest high-profile television show, there’s more to come. The Witcher season 1 doesn’t even cover the first book in Sapkowski’s series, so Hissrich has more than eight novels worth of source material to work from for future seasons. That’s plenty of opportunity for The Witcher to include even more bathtub scenes – providing Netflix keeps the show going beyond season 2. For now, fans will have to make due with The Witcher season 1’s two scenes of Cavill’s Geralt in the bathtub.

The Witcher season 1 is now available to stream on Netflix.
