Bahamut is one of the most distinguished summons in all of Final Fantasy, and in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, is also an incredibly difficult boss. Summons can only be obtained in the game after completing a set of challenges for the oddly-named scientist Chadley, a new character introduced in the remake. Chadley is a materia researcher who enlists Cloud to collect data in order to help him in his goal to overthrow Shinra. Once tasks are completed, Chadley awards Cloud with different materia, including summoning materia like Shiva and Bahamut.

Summons can be used in battle to deal large amounts of damage and are generally reserved for boss battles or particularly difficult opponents. Bahamut, however, is one of the most difficult bosses in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and an essential summon for a hard-mode playthrough.

Bahamut, also known as the Dragon King, has been prominently featured in nearly every Final Fantasy game since the series began. In the original Final Fantasy 7, the materia can be found in the Temple of Ancients after defeating the Red Dragon. In the remake, however, it can only be acquired after defeating Bahamut in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. Defeating Bahamut is the final task Chadley gives Cloud, and can only be fought after completing all previous 19 Battle Intel missions.

Where & How To Get Bahamut in FF7 Remake

Chadley can be found in several chapters throughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and completing all of his side quests is highly recommended for any playthrough as he rewards Cloud with useful materia. He’s first introduced in Chapter 3 in the residential area of the Sector 7 slums, and can also be easily found in Chapters 8, 9, 14, and in the Shinra Building in Chapter 16. Completing all of the available Battle Intel missions is necessary to unlock the Bahamut challenge in the Combat Simulator.

In Chapter 16 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, players can find Chadley on the 63rd floor of the Shinra Building, but will need to beat the first Combat Simulator Challenge to gain access to the area and unlock the final Battle Intel objectives. After finishing the game, players can return to the Combat Simulator Lounge by choosing Chapter Select and going to Chapter 17. It’s not necessary to play through all of Chapter 16 again in order to reach the lounge.

Facing Bahamut is no easy feat, as he is the most powerful summon in the game for a reason. It’s recommended that players level up their whole team to level 50 and max out as much materia as possible before facing the Dragon King. Once defeated, Bahamut will be one of the most powerful tools in any Final Fantasy 7 Remake player’s arsenal.
