Players have been losing themselves in the world of Minecraft for almost a decade now. The game inspired a whole community of gamers to build and create entire worlds. With each new update to the game, there are new recipes added, new items to experiment with, and fun materials to play around with. With the most recent update to the game, players got to experience some massive changes to the Nether.

One of the new changes came with the inclusion of a brand new block called Basalt. Players can now collect this block and use it to create all manner of different things. The trick though is that it can only be found in specific places, so players will need to know exactly what they are looking for. This guide shows players where to find Basalt and what they can use it for.

Minecraft: Where to Find Basalt

Players who want to collect all of the Basalt they can find will need to travel to the Nether first. Basalt will be found naturally inside of one of the new Nether biomes, Soul Sand Valley. This area is a giant cavern full of fossils and covered with soul sand and soul soil. One other thing that players will find during their exploration is giant pillars stretching from floor to ceiling that are made entirely of Basalt.

Players will also be able to find another biome called a Basalt Delta that obviously is abundant with Basalt. These areas are volcanic in nature and are full of all kinds of dangerous creatures. Almost all of the blocks here will be made out of Basalt though, so players will be able to collect all of it they could ever possibly want. As long as they are willing to put up with a little bit of danger that is.

Minecraft: What to Use Basalt For

At this time Basalt isn’t able to be used to craft any special objects or items, but it is a perfect decorative tool. Players are able to obtain in two different forms: standard and polished. Both look great if players are looking to make a dark and foreboding structure while building. Its natural abundance also makes it an easy material to use when building structures while inside the Nether. The upside to Basalt as well is that it can be placed either horizontally or vertically, so stacking blocks on top of each other can be almost seamless.

Minecraft can be played on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, iOS, and Android.
