Where to Find Briar Branches in New World (& What They’re For)

New World resources can often be hard to come by because all players on the server share the same materials. Certain quests will require players to gather a list of resources, and the rewards are usually worth farming for them. Items like New World‘s Azoth or Briar Branches might be difficult to find, but there are a few specific spots that players will have more luck with.

In New World, Matthias Cormack will give players a quest called a Prickly Request. Cormack is the Barkeep in Windsward, and he will ask players to gather some Briar Branches for him. The branches are harvested from Briars, which are large, thorny bushes that can sometimes blend in with the rest of the greenery in New World. There are specific spots to search for this resource.

Gathering materials, such as Briars or Hemp, is a vital part of New World. A lot of missions will have players collecting, harvesting, or crafting items. Cormack’s quest is one of many in New World where players will need to gather a variety of resources. Along with plucked turkeys and skinned rabbits, a Prickly Request has players search for Briars and harvest the Briar Branches from them.

Finding Briar Branches in New World

With New World‘s high player count, locating any resource can be challenging. In order to locate Briars, players will need to find a water source. There is a river near Windsward (close to the start of the quest) where Briars frequently spawn. If there are none there, then travel to any other body of water, shown as blue masses on the map, and search near the edge of the water. Briars can be harvested for the branches that Cormack has requested.

Briar Buds and Thorny Vines can be harvested from Briar Branches. The harvesting skill in New World can be enhanced by picking and harvesting various plants. The materials gathered from Briar Branches can be used to craft a Weak Mana Potion, which restores 40% of a player’s mana. Outside of the quest and this particular potion, there is no other discovered use for Briar Branches.

Like many of New World‘s resources, Briar Branches can be hard to come by, but there are methods for obtaining it easily. Search near water and harvest the branches from Briars in order to complete a Prickly Request or gather resources for potions. New World‘s crowded servers make it difficult to find rare materials, but there are still tricks to finding even the most scarce resource.
