Lucario has been a long-time favorite in the Pokémon franchise, and this famous Fighting/Steel-Type can be found and caught as an Alpha Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Alpha Pokémon are much larger and more aggressive than regular Pokémon of the same species, and their eyes glow red with wild might, making them easy to distinguish. In addition, Alpha Pokémon are at a much higher level than the other Pokémon of that area, and trainers who are exploring for the first time will likely need to return to catch them later with a stronger team of Pokémon. However, it’s possible to catch Alpha Pokémon like Lucario without battling at all as long as players have the right supplies in their Satchel.

Not only are Alpha Pokémon bigger and stronger than normal Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but they also have higher Effort Levels that make them even more formidable in battle. Alpha Pokémon are able to learn moves through leveling that other Pokémon of their species can only move from the Move Tutor, which can make them powerful assets to the trainer’s team. In addition, catching Alpha Pokémon will also reward players with some of the game’s best items, like Grit Items and EXP Candies.

Alpha Lucario can be tricky to find, but the Aura Pokémon is located in the Icebound Falls area of the Alabaster Icelands just south of the J-shaped mountain ridge. It’s one of the stronger Alpha Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus at level 70, so trainers will have to come prepared with a good team of Pokémon if they plan on capturing it through battle. Players can also attempt to catch Alpha Lucario without battling at all, but without any tall grass to conceal them in the Alabaster Icelands, they’ll need to bring stealth-boosting supplies of their own.

How To Catch Alpha Lucario In Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Before approaching Alpha Lucario in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players should stock up on stealth items like Stealth Spray and Smoke Bombs that will allow them to sneak close to the Pokémon without being seen. Alpha Lucario can be baited and distracted with Honey Cakes and Berries, and if players throw their lure far enough to get Lucario to turn its back to them, they’ll get an increased chance of catching it by hitting it in the back with a Poké Ball. If Alpha Lucario breaks loose and spots the player, they’ll have to either battle it or run away and try sneaking up on it again.

Alpha Lucario’s Fighting/Steel Type gives it resistance to a ton of different Types, including Poison, Rock, Bug, Dark, Normal, Steel, Grass, Ice, and Dragon. However, it’s weak to Fighting, Ground, and Fire-Type moves, so players should be sure to bring a Pokémon that can counter Alpha Lucario’s strong Typing like Infernape or Garchomp. Pokémon affected by status conditions like sleep or paralysis are also easier to catch, and Pokémon with moves like Hypnosis are crucial for battling Alpha Pokémon like Alpha Lucario in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. However, if players cause Alpha Lucario to faint, they can get him to respawn by returning to Jubilife Village and revisiting the area later.
