Petilil is one of many Pokémon that need to be caught to complete requests in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Early on in the game, after receiving the quest, “Arezu’s Predicament,” players can speak to Shinon to start the request, “The Search for Bitter Leaves.” Shinon will explain that she needs a plant with three leaves to make medicine. Shinon also states that Anise at the Medical Corps can provide additional information.

The Medical Corps building is a few houses down from Shinon on the opposite side of the road. Anise says that it’s actually a Pokémon with three leaves that she requires to help make the medicine. She asks players to find and catch the Pokémon, and then bring it back to her instead of Shinon. The Pokémon with three leaves is Petilil, and it can be found after Crimson Mirelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus becomes accessible.

There are two subregions in the Crimson Mirelands where players can find Petilil. To capture a Petilil, players will need to travel to Cottonsedge Prairie or Holm of Trials. Cottonsedge Prairie can be reached by traveling around the back of Lake Valor, and Holm of Trials is in the southern part of Crimson Mirelands, which can be reached using the Wydeer mount. Petilil should be easily spotted in either of these Crimson Mirelands subregions.

Catching and Evolving Petilil in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Petilil is not an aggressive Pokémon, so players don’t need to worry about it attacking when they approach it. Petilil won’t run either, making it very easy to capture. Players can either sneak up behind Petilil or run up to it and throw a Poké Ball in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Alternatively, players can engage Petilil in battle and drain its before catching it if they want their Pokémon to gain experience from the fight. It’s recommended that players catch more than one Petilil, because they will need to hand one over to complete the request for Anise.

To finish the request, players can head back to Jubilife Village and visit the Medical Corps building again. Anise will ask if players want to hand over their Petilil, and confirming will trigger a final cutscene for “The Search for Bitter Leaves.” The rewards for completing the request are three Fine Remedy items and five Hopo Berries. Along with completing the request, catching a Petilil is the only way for players to get a Hisuian Lilligant.

For players to evolve Petilil into Hisuian Lilligant, they will need to obtain a Sun Stone. The Trading Outpost in Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘ Jubilife Village has Sun Stones available for purchase for 1,200 Merit Points. Players can retrieve Lost Satchels to earn Merit Points. Alternatively, players can look for a Sun Stone while exploring the Hisui region using the Ursaluna mount. After finding or purchasing a Sun Stone and catching Petilil, players can obtain a Hisuian Lilligant in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
